View Full Version : New Site needs graphics work
getnbusy 02-23-2002, 05:46 PM Hello
The primary item needed most of all, is a professional logo. One which will be easily remembered by our visitiors.
The base of the site can be seen www.anxietymatrix.com (http://www.anxietymatrix.com/)
Here is a sample of logo which we would like to include the picture thingy used on right side of the page, the logo itself should still maintain about 35% of the full page width.
look at this logo (http://www.adaa.org/Public/index.cfm) This is only a sample to provide you with how we want to include pics of real live people with happy looking faces.
Logo colors, should interact well with the sites primary color. (lavendar)... Should I change the header background to a color (from white) other than purple, or use the medium purple color on site now?
Logo size:
Ideally, I would like to see it about the width of current default logo, the height is somewhat flexible. Not by much, however. (CHANGED)
lOGO can take up entire header table area, as we will be including the search feature in a left or right side module.
Logo text: should read either
1] Anxiety Matrix
2] The Anxiety Matrix
3] (adding the .com if you think it works)
4] I have a tagline in mind... (CHANGED) This is to be included in all example images.
"Providing the means to unlock the mystery of Anxiety Disorders" (or some form thereof...)
Logo background: I Like the wavey style used in "pindus" logo which is still set as the default logo. However, seeing as how I am no graphics person... I am certainly willing to look at all possible alternatives.
Logo effects: What about some type of circle (black-hole type) with logo extending out of it, while looking professional still.
Swooshes are a nice attraction, when used properly, to me.
Here again, use your judgement, as to any highlighting, fades, or gradients which you feel to be appropiate!
Logo should be of professional quality. In the very near future my site will be going before several review boards for several different reasons.
Here is an example of a modification (addition) which should be added.
Other graphics related work needed:
If you notice the darker purple images, they are just too plain!
Would like to have either highlighting, fading, or gradients applied to these. (looking for a bit more pizzaz, without getting cheezy)
Of course, If you notice anything else which needs work, please voice your thoughts and suggestions.
The best part was saved for last... I am prepared to pay 50-100USD for this work to be completed.
(In my research on this type of design work, this seems to be more than fair compensation)
Quick and timely - actions and responses will take this contest without fail... so dont procrastinate (CHANGED)
I am going to make this a contest, if it is ok with the forums owner...
Contest to expire on 2/27/2002, as this was needed yesterday! ;)
At that time, I will post the top 4 entries both here and at sitepoint for a vote to decide the winner. However, I do hold the deciding vote, and reserve my rights to use such. I do not think this will have to be done though.
Good luck everyone, keep up the nice work ;)
Steve

Thanks in advance

IceBlaZe 02-23-2002, 06:02 PM Size of the logo please?
:)
getnbusy 02-23-2002, 06:08 PM sorry about that... I will edit my original request to show such info...
I knew I'd ferget something! ughhhhh
Thanks
-Steve
IceBlaZe 02-23-2002, 06:59 PM I have pm'ed you
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 04:03 AM Hi there,
we are very interested in working with you on your design. We have sent an e-mail.
Thanks,
Leigh Hewitt
shamrock 02-24-2002, 04:57 AM hi,
here are my two entrys,
please tell me what you think

http://rotter.net/forum/User_files/3c78a8542b946e5c.gif
getnbusy 02-24-2002, 05:09 AM Surely, you are. I have seen some of your work and eagerness across WHT. Just sorta take the bull by the horns here, and show me what you think of when looking at the site... and what little I have given you to work with in the way of specs.
I appologize for not having any images or graphics to give you all, however, for at least the first 6 months, this site will not earn any revenue... maybe longer. That should open up enough resources for the ones familar with them to grab up something that will give me the same feel on the example site I listed.
I have gotten a couple of logos with the ADAA letters in them.... no no no.... thats not me, I am "Anxiety Matrix" period, no comma. ;)
I just offered that for you to see how I would like to have pictures of real life people splashed across the top right 2/3'rds of the page header.
Thanks for everyone that has responded so far, a couple of the early examples of work have been very interesting...
To keep this fair for everyone, i may set a deadline for this little design job. (seeing as how I left it so wide open)
Keep those creative juices brewing... ;)
Regards
-Steve
getnbusy 02-24-2002, 05:42 AM Shamrock,
Those both look nice.
The scope of the guidelines have changed, so please re-read the original post.... which has been edited now.
Thanks, and good luck (I really like the fonts you used) ;)
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 07:48 AM Hi Getnbusy,
I will look at what there is to work with, and I should have something sorted out by this evening. This will be a first draft of course, but if you like it, we re-develop it and move on from there.
Do you have an e-mail address we can contact you via?
Kind Regards,
Leigh Hewitt
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 11:16 AM Hi there,
after several hours, we have come up with a few drafts. Here is our result, I hope you like it. :)
Kind Regards,
Leigh Hewitt
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 11:18 AM I also enclose a letter head version, some people prefer an image without a bordered version, but I always include one.
Kind Regards,
Leigh Hewitt
fractiousws 02-24-2002, 11:43 AM Chewnet, I don't think that matches the website very well.
Just take a look.
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 11:53 AM I think the actual image suits perfect with the surroundings on the design of the site. Although yes, a redevelop in the image colour would fade the logo nicely into the site.
If that is requested by Steve, I will kindly have it done.
Thanks,
Leigh Hewitt
shamrock 02-24-2002, 02:23 PM ok, so do you now want the logo to include photos of people on the side and your slogan under it, as in
http://www.adaa.org/Public/index.cfm
?
is the contest until the 27?
getnbusy 02-24-2002, 02:42 PM Fracticous; Thanks for the assistance, but I can take care of this. Please refrain from adding your comments now, I believe you had a shot at making a logo for me... one which you never completed!
Chewnet; I am sorry to say the same as Fracticous so eloquently put it. Not as well, maybe, but none the less, it dont float my boat. Please reread the specs that I did provide and look at the one example I used. Thanks for your efforts! ;)
Shamrock; The example listed is just that, I certainly do not want a complete copy of their logo.
Contest is scheduled to end on 27th, but as I stated, I reserve my full rights as originator of this contest. Thanks for your interest.
Everyone is doing a nice job. All of your efforts are appreciated. To repay everyone that attempts at our work, will get a text link on a dedicated page. You must submit your own link, I will not chase you down for it... ok! :D
Thanks again
-Steve
fractiousws 02-24-2002, 02:46 PM That is because you I emailed you to ask you a few more things and got NO responce. I am gonna stop right here before this post goes off topic.
IceBlaZe 02-24-2002, 02:49 PM I dont have a site yet... But I would be thankful if you do decide to mention my e-mail and name :)
- Eyal Peer
eyalp@totalise.co.uk
So happens, me and shamrock come from the same area... and it's so small, I think its a nice coincidence.
Bannaz 02-24-2002, 03:57 PM Hi there,
we were mainly aiming towards this effect for the logo:
" Logo effects: What about some type of circle (black-hole type) with logo extending out of it, while looking professional still.
Swooshes are a nice attraction, when used properly, to me.
Here again, use your judgement, as to any highlighting, fades, or gradients which you feel to be appropiate! "
But no worries, we'll start a fresh one, keeping as closely as possible to your specs. :)
Kind Regards,
Leigh Hewitt
Fish_Saver 02-24-2002, 09:58 PM If this is the right Track I could work on it a little more.
http://www.mocllc.net/anx.gif
getnbusy 02-24-2002, 11:17 PM Nice job....
but; (always has to be hard, hey?) lol
1 Dont like the background showing in such large areas between pics... space here should be practically null.
2 The tagline should not go across the picture section. The logo portion should have a trasparant background, and be no more than 35% of page width... pictures will take up the other 65% of the overall header area. (which should be no more than 95% of page width)
3 The only alternative for the tag line, other than #2 above, is to have tagline scroll out onto the page, but this must be placed at the extreme bottom of the header section.
4 Where's the swooshies??? ;) They may be trendy, but I like them too.
5 Pictures should be more clearly visible, looking like a standard everyday photo in someones scrap-albums.
(you can add a couple more photos too)
Want my sites visitors to see on the home page... a header full of happy faces (real people) doing fun stuff (happy, quality times... you know what I mean. make em feel welcome... like they are at home.)
Please, have another go at it.:)
Thanks
Regards,
-Steve
Bannaz 02-25-2002, 03:58 AM Steve,
I'm a little confused now. Is what you want a banner across the whole page with faces on including the logo, or just the logo with the faces on?
Once I know this we will have something to work with and the outcome should be great!
Thanks,
Leigh Hewitt
Bannaz 02-25-2002, 03:59 AM One other question steve.
The logo which wins, how is the payment going to be sorted? Will it be carried out through paypal?
Our business is located in the United Kingdom, so payment sent/received is usually done in this form.
Please get back to us on this,
Thanks!
Leigh Hewitt :)
Fish_Saver 02-25-2002, 07:39 AM >>1 Dont like the background showing in such large areas >>between pics... space here should be practically null.
No Problem
>>2 The tagline should not go across the picture section.
Ok
>>The logo portion should have a trasparant background, and >>be no more than 35% of page width...
You mean the text? 122 pixels? or 260 pixels?
>>pictures will take up the other 65% of the overall header area. >>(which should be no more than 95% of page width)
How wide is your page? 750 pixels?
>>3 The only alternative for the tag line, other than #2 above, is >>to have tagline scroll out onto the page, but this must be >>placed at the extreme bottom of the header section.
>>4 Where's the swooshies??? They may be trendy, but I like >>them too.
Ok
>>5 Pictures should be more clearly visible, looking like a >>standard everyday photo in someones scrap-albums.
>>(you can add a couple more photos too)
Then you will have to go 80-100 pixels tall for your head at 40 pixels they won't be clear.
Please advise.

Bannaz 02-25-2002, 01:19 PM Hi Steve,
If what your after is the sort of thing Shamrock has done, please let us know. Then I can get the work started!
Thanks
Regards,
Leigh Hewitt
getnbusy 02-26-2002, 01:29 AM Sorry folks, had to do a little maintance on my system. Ready to roll now though... ;)
Yes, I want to see more along the lines of what shamrock is working with... Here again, while we want it professional, I am looking for pizzazz too!
Leigh, I was not intentionally (not posting)... avoiding any of you. Just had no way of getting here! :bawling:
Oh well... good to be able to keep in practice at reformating and re-loading everything. (ughhhhhhh)
Thanks everyone, I am going to look at the rest of shamrocks work now. I may edit this post afterwards.
Regards
-Steve
:)
After looking at Shamrocks 4 new examples, I have to say that I like the first, with #3 coming in at a close second.
Without knowing the capabilities of graphic editors, is it possible to take the set of four pics, making them look as if it is 2 groups of people greeting each other / enjoying their company. (positioning to give the appearence they are facing each other somewhat)
The entire header graphic may contain 6 or more actual images,
logo image (transparent, of course)
background image (Lavender) (Maybe highlight the top portion of the main background image)
inividual people images (transparent)
swoosh accent image (placed over site name, in some fancy way)
tagline image
Nice work shamrock, I appreciate your time on this...
Don't give out on me yet! :)
Bannaz 02-26-2002, 04:04 AM No probs steve, just a bit enthusiastic to start going as the deadline is close. :)
I'll now look closely at your brief, and work something up!
Kind Regards,
Leigh Hewitt

sorry but it cannot be done...
I added the tagline:

#2: http://rotter.net/forum/User_files/3c7be0e52eff1de4.gif
shamrock 02-28-2002, 01:10 PM so, what's up with the contest?
DougBTX 02-28-2002, 01:27 PM I've not got a reply to my eml in days..but then its not what he wants anyway (now that he's changed the brief etc..)
regards,
Douglas
getnbusy 03-04-2002, 05:37 AM I appologize once again, for not letting you all know where things stood.
I really do appreciate everyone that put forth the effort into trying to gain my work... For a fairly reasonable prize.
I have accepted one of the individuals which contacted me privately about this job posting.
My bad for not informing you all sooner, just had some personal situations arise, which took me away from the com.
It isn't much of a consolation prize, but if all those who entered a rendition, if you will either pm or email me from these forums with the link you would like for me to list on my site. Once the site goes live, I will have your links posted.
Thanks again everyone,
Good Luck to you all!
-Steve
