about a week and a half ago, i received my usual newsletter from registerfly with coupons and what not, and i decided to redeem one and get myself a new domain name (technically, renew a domain name that expired a year ago, but has long since left limbo and disappeared, therfor, 'new'). i went to the site, logged in, entered my coupon number, and began the registration process.
then, i reached the final stage of registration, and promptly received a mysql connect error. i then tried a different browser. same error. i figure i'll wait until the next day, when i was sure the'd have it fixed, and got the same error.
since the issue wasn't pressing -- i didn't desperately need the new domain name in any way -- i figured i'd hang out and see how long it'd take them to fix it. i'd try at different times of the day, using different browsers and different computers, and still i'd get the error.
since it's a mysql error, it's obviously a problem on their side.
finally, i give up, and i decide to ask them what was going on. i go to live help, and live help stated that no one else was having this problem, and that i needed to submit a support ticket, with my credit card information, and they'd register the domain name with that.
i submitted a suport ticket, but did not give them my credit card information, asking what the problem was. it's been two days, and still no reply.
i've since registered the domain name with namecheap. it's my first domain name with them, and they're already head over heels better than registerfly. the main reason i went with registerfly was pretty simple, at the time i as actively registering domain names there were literally no resellers accepting paypal, save one or two. registerfly was the lesser of all evils, and i went with them. since i never had any problems with my domian names (i use my own nameservers and webspace), i never had any problems with them. all they had to do was take my money yearly, and make sure that they domain names continued to belong to me.
anyone else have issues with the registerfly shopping cart system, or am i truely the only one to experience this happy privilage?
