Great plans, great support, great uptime, but how could they possibly be making money? They are practically giving away hosting. What do you think?

not sure - I'm not too sure on who they would make money off it myself... 8 a month for 20gb bandwidth is pretty cheap.

What do you think? let's just say that they're one hell of a great host. i don't think there's some hocus-pocus going on in the background. if we've been searching for a good host for ages, maybe this is the time :)

They are selling space/bandwidth on their rackshack.net servers, not making a whole lot of money, but I guess it's another case of a $3 host just hanging around for a quick few bucks then tripping and falling :P. At least they arn't offering unlimited bandwidth :).

Like almost all hosts they oversell the bandwidth. If all the 20GB accounts truly used it, that would mean a limit of 15 accounts to a 300GB Rackshack, so they would take in $120/month...have a cost of $108 (cheapest RS). So, even then they haven't sold for less than their direct costs. However, there are indirect costs that would prevent them from being profitable. However, they depend, as does the industry as a whole, on underutilization. Let's say an average of 10GB, that means 30 accounts...$240/month/server.

I am by no means endorsing their pricing strategy, just attempting to explain how it may work (at least on paper). We would never consider offering those prices, but if they can and still provide support, more power to them.

Yeah, but they (context: "almost all hosts") should be aware they may get hit with bills from their provider once people do start to use their allocated allowance...

People are entitled to have a opinion, but those opinions should be based on facts and experiences. Why slander companies that have good things that are said about them if you can't substantiate your comments.

Just because Myacen isn't so well known on this boarddoesn't mean he isn't a well known host. As the previous poster pointed out, Myacen is probably the most respected host at FWS and I encourage anyone to go there and run a search.

It's too competitive here and that's probably the reason that Myacen doesn't spend s much time here as he does over there.

Thanks for the support Laurence & Chris, actually I don't spend much time on this board for the very reason. Too much host bashing goes on here, and I had a feeling when people learnt about our plans and pricing that we would have to be the next inline, even though are support and prices are excellent

Some people just judge by the pricing but we have many very happy customers, and as Laurence and Chris have suggested visit FWS to see for yourself.

Don't let these people bring you down. I have found that most of the bashing is just because people are jealous that other hosts are able to offer services at prices that they themselves cannot. It really bothers me to see this go on.

I had not heard of myacen until about a week ago. I was pleasantly surprised to read some of the rave reviews you have over at fws. From the looks of it you guys offer a great service, and your customers seem to be happy.

I guess I'm rambling now. It's late, I need sleep. What I'm trying to say is, don't let a few rotten apples spoil the whole bunch. I'm sure a lot of people here could benefit from your services.
