I just tried to make a post regaurding help with postfix configuration and the vb installation would not allow it "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 5 posts or more."

All my posts contained was example email addresses in the format "user@example.com" The filter for recognizing a post as containing URLs to other sites should perhapes not count email addresses or example.com/net/org addresses

The filter searches for example.com, and this must be a part of the e-mail address also.

I'm not sure, I guess it's a safeguard against unauthorized advertising for zero count posters.

... This forum is made for web hosting, at least TRY to be mature. Don't use swearing, even in short form.
If your not at a mature age at least TRY to act it.
Personally i think the 5 post policy is great, stops spammers.
Besides its only 5 posts! You should be thankful such forum even exists with this number of users ...

If it is an email.. make a space between the @..
like USER @ SITE.com

As for BS posts.. thats dumb. Post something which will add to the community..

BY "BS"ing posts.. you can be banned.

I think the original posters point was that "example.com/net/org" shouldn't be included in the URL filtering system, since those domains clearly cannot be used for advertising as they are reserved :)

Thanks,
Alan.

For those who don't already know RFC 2606 reserves the names example.com/org/net for use by the Internet public as 'example' domains. The original poster is right - these names should be allowed by the filters since they will never link anywhere except a page that says "You have reached this web page by typing "example.com", "example.net", or "example.org" into your web browser. These domain names are reserved for use in documentation and are not available for registration. See RFC 2606, Section 3."

See http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc2606.txt for more.
