hi,

why cant cpanel developers include the mysql data into home backup?
its seems useless to have home directory backup without the mysql data.

most new client dont know the home directory doesnt includes mysql data.

anyway the most important data only in account are the ff
- website data files
- mysql data
- mails

the rest are not very important.

so why cant cpanel include mysql in home directory backup, why?

There is a section of the cpanel specifically for downloading database dumps. This is particularly useful for those who's actual files don't change often and only the database does so they only have to download databases rather than the whole archive each time.

The web files and email data is included in the full backup.

I believe that if you choose full backup, it includes mysql data.

I have a question related to this,
If you choose full backup it will download fine but how would I go about uploading it there is no field in the cPanel backup page to upload full backups. Would a server administrator need to do it themselves?

Yes, I'm pretty sure this is the type of backup that the root user could recreate the account from.

Hi

I been moving few cpanel sites via full home dir backup today.

Site5 pepole can`t do it but resellerzoom did with no problem in 5 min.

That fact will affect my future decision where to upgrade my hosting plan

Hm, probably they did that to cut down load on the server. Or maybe did it on purpose to give you hard time moving out of them :P

Cpanel backup feature provides a restore . I am just wondering how in the world do you upload ... say a 50 MB file through HTTP interface as provided in the html form ?

Forgive me, I have mostly failed in my attempt to do that, hence I have to get server admin to do restore on their side after I have FTP it on the root folder of my account. Any tips into this (eg. ftp it up on the root , and point it on the html form to do restore by myself) ?

Any takers? Thanks all.
