Okay, I am still living in 1999. I have used nothing but register.com for over 20 domains for the past few years... I have been very happy with the service, I have never needed customer service for anything and the control panel has everything I could want.

Now, I am about to register 3 new domains and I was wondering which registar is big right now... cheap, going to be around a long time, and has a great control panel with all the options.

Just looking into my options... if I dont have to pay $35 and I can get the the same quality service... then yeah.

Thanks.....

We have been using GoDaddy.com and StarGateInc.com for quite a while now, and we have no complaints.. Very reasonable prices.

We use godaddy. I believe they are still the cheapest around but some people have been complaining about their spam. Otherwise, a good recommendation.

if you are happy with register.com then why not try namebargain.com, it is the same company as register.com and they just require an initial purchase of 5 names.
And their price is a lot lower than register.com

I've used Register.com and know the control panel you've been dealing with. A couple of good alternatives at $15 are Dotster and DirectNIC. Can't speak to GoDaddy, but I greatly prefer these registrars' controls over what Stargate provides.

I've been using directNIC for quite some time and am very happy.

I've also registered a few names with stargate, and in spite of the recent complaints about them, I find them to be top-notch in spite of the low price.

I'm also using an enom reseller (registrydomains.com) and I am very impressed with both enom and registrydomains. Topnotch service, a full range of services, and Dan of registrydomains is extremely courteous and helpful.

I think when someone is banned from this forum it's for a finite time period (I seem to remember reading three months somewhere, but I'm not sure).

I heard that godaddy doesnt have a good control panel, ie you cant change nameservers yourself... and the "wholesale" site that register.com has is the same... is this true? From what I have seen directnic seems to be my best option....

Re: Spam & Ban
I don't recall. Only one user (currently registered, not banned) comes up: bursanet (no posts). They may have been banned under a different name, or not.

Not true. You can change everything about your domain by yourself ..with godaddy CP. (hack..that grammar LOOKS so bad. But its Sunday, and am going back to bed)
