I'm looking into using my dedicated server as a shared host, all include mysql, php, etc.

200MB space
2GB transfer
$3.99/month

1GB Space
10GB transfer
$4.99 Monthly

2GB Space
20GB Transfer
$5.99 Monthly

5GB Space
50GB Transfer
$14.99 Monthly

50MB Space
500MB Transfer
$.99 Monthly

If you wer a customer, would you be suspicious of these prices?

They look all right.

I don't claim to be exactly "experienced" or anything but from what I have learned over time, most people tend to want a bit more bandwidth. Disk space is important, which your plans are covering well, but I'd say maybe up the bandwidth some.

Just my two cents. :)

EDIT: Your prices seem a bit cheap, so if you're going to add some bandwidth to the plans, you might either want to drop some of the disk space or make the prices slightly higher. ;)

way to much disk space imho
the 10-1 ratio is kinda void after 750 megs in my eyes

FSFOX,

For shared plans, you could basically offer 3 different plans. Let's assume 200mb, 400mb, 600mb. Associated bandwidth with each (could be the number X 10. ).

Yes, some companies have 1GB+ greater plans only. Not a surprise. But unless you won't go overselling some day.

Your pricing is OK. You might need to increase all of them by one U.S.D :)

Maybe its a bit too cheap... and don't u think 5 GB is a bit too much for $15 a month?

Some of your plans are a bit too cheap. Also the 99 cents plan with 50MB space and 500MB bandwidth, get rid of it.

How do you want to make money of these plans if a client needs support? I would not start below $5.00 to be honest.

I agree....if you want to give 24 x 7 / 12 x 7 support then 4.99 is must

Yes if he wants to use outsourced support which then $5.00 would be okay I guess, but in house support you need to raise prices (just what I think). I personally would never have anything lower then $10.00.

What I did for my plans was had a 250MB, 750, 1.5GB diskspace plans, and then, for each plan, added an extra "0" onto the diskspace to get my bandwidth: 2500Bandwidth, 7500Bandwidth etc.

It worked for me, but what do I know, I'm still raising capital!

FSFOX, in my opinion you should go over all your packages and redo them -

The problem is, they do not go up enough in terms of money, however go up plenty in terms of space and bandwidth. $1 should not increase bandwidth by 10GB and space by 1GB.

I really think you need to sit down again, go over them, work out how much you are paying per 1GB of bandwidth and per 100MB of space, and then also think about how much profit you want to earn per 1GB of bandwidth sold.

Your packages need to be reasonable - $3.99 for 200MB space and 2GB bandwidth, then $4.99 for 1GB space and 10GB bandwidth and then $5.99 for 2GB space and 20GB bandwidth just is not reasonable. Why a $1 increase from package A to B when you get an extra 800MB space and 8GB bandwidth??

Your first package looks fine - It's perfect, and you'll gain a decent amount of profit on it - However what happened with the rest?

And I also agree with the others, get rid of your $0.99 package - In the long run it will just cause more hassle than is needed.

Hope this helps. :)

$5.99 for 2GB space and 20GB Transfer? Please explain how you are going to make a profit on this?

Well, let me explain this for you:

He purchases this server (https://www.servermatrix.com/solutions/sr24_server.html) from Server Matrix. It costs him $219 per month, with a $199 setup. He could have a maximum of 75 clients on the server (This is just taking it a maximum, probably with the web sites not being very active - However in reality we would hope that he would put less on his server), meaning a maximum gross of $449.25 and a total of $390.50 after credit card charges.

Meaning he could make $171.50 per server, with only 75 clients, and hopefully the clients are using very little resources. How much support is offered? - He did not say that he is offering 24/7, maybe he will have a respond time of 6 hours and a resolve time of 24 hours.

It's true, we hope that he doesn't do this - However many people do and get lots of money from it.

Suspicious of what?? if you said you are going to offer the above, you better make sure your server is able to support them. =)

They look good pricing to me although skip the 99 Cents plan
Paypal would eat like 30 Cents of it

Indeed, plans under $5.00 are simply not worth it, when you take off the payment processors charge you're going to be left short changed. Make sure your prices cover this factor aswell.

way too much disk space (ratio-wise)
