Based on this thread (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=366972), we started displaying seconds.

Based on the same thread, we're asking if we should keep the seconds, or remove them.

So the choices are, Leave it as is (No); or drop the seconds (Yes).

Keep it as it is useful data for a busy forum such as this.

Best,

I would like to see it dropped, it is the most annoying, time consuming thing I have seen here :bawling:

Sure it is "handy" to see how many seconds elapsed between posts made in the same minute, but overall it is an annoyance when for years we have had the one time stamp. I look at a forum from the index - because of the mm:ss, it appears nothing was posted there for hours because we are used to hh:mm :( We gave it a week but I for one find it very hard adjusting and I don't know of any other forum I am active in that has it activated either.

I noticed it in the beginning, now i don't notice it.

keep it around for the reason artashes stated.

Best,
It might be useful for forums much smaller than this, but when in busy hours we get several new posts a minute, it is a mere pittance of data.

I agree.

Drop the seconds. A waste of bandwidth + of no real use + I still have problems adapting to the change.

I voted to keep it, but if it really is using way to much bandwidth & is hurting WHT, then drop it.

I kept out of the last conversation about this (though I did vote against adding seconds), because I was willing to see how it would play out. My thoughts?

Drop it. When I look at post times, I start by looking at the minutes first, because usually I'll refresh more frequently than once per hour. Seeing the seconds there throws me off every time. I just think its an unnecessary measurement of time to track. It doesn't hurt to have it, but it's a bigger adjustment than I think anyone could imagine after eight months here for me, and many years for some people. Is it really telling you anything useful anyway?

Here's another option. Is it possible to make the time stamp a user preference? It seems it would be a pretty easy adjustment to make.

I would say...Drop it..no actual use, thanks.

I was one of the original people to say "get it". Now that it has happened, I must say I do not like it one bit. With those two added numbers, I get confused very easily. Espically when it is morning, and I am very confused, and got to get close to the screen to see which one is which.

I didn't vote in the first poll, because I didn't really care and didn't think it'd make a difference. Now having seen it implemented, I don't like it... I voted "drop it."

i accidently hit Yes instead of No... ... but after reading this thread, i guess i voted the right way afterall...

I guess I'm not aware of all the disadvantages this innovation brings. Personally I don't care if it stays or not, but if it really causes that many problems to members and actually consumes bandwidth (??), then by all means - let it go.

Members come first.

i wonder, how much trouble would it be for a Display seconds option in the User CP? Probably a hassle, huh...?

keep it around.. it will help to differentiate from people posting at the same time.

Just a short note: the bandwidth thing was more of a silly joke. I forgot to add a smiley. :)

I'm sure that 45 or so bytes per page are nothing in the grand scheme of things. I guess they only add up to some 60-70 MB per month. Sorry for the confusion.

Well, it seems to be running two to one, for. Would probably remain around that ratio until it was closed.

I suppose the best thing to do is turn it on and see how it goes. :)

*flips switch We saw how it went. Seems the voting is reversed this time around.

Likely the best thing to do is put it back where it was and implement a user option for it.

Change is needed always, and corrective actions must take place. :)

I welcome all changes as long as they don't actually change anything. :)

Just kidding, of course. Change is good. Just like errors, changes ultimately lead to progress. Some say they lead to evolution as well. ;)
