Thanks! debris 02-22-2002, 09:31 PM I checked out their site... not sure what they meant by "1995-2001". The site was registered only in 2001.. I've never heard of anyone using their services before, so I'm afraid I can't help you much. xnet 02-22-2002, 09:52 PM never heard of them - and if they've been around since 95, I'm guessing I would have... search for them at like hostsearch.com - if they arent in there after being around since 95.... JustLurkin77 02-22-2002, 10:08 PM They are a ***** reseller. You might want to search the forums for *****... zalor 02-22-2002, 11:19 PM Thank you guys for the tips! They were featured in the daily "Emazing Tips". Yeah...the flashy first page - the first no-trust sign... Thanks! coloradofj60 05-16-2005, 04:30 PM I recently sold my website/forum and used 6star.net for 4 years. I found them by looking up 10 best web hosts on Google and they came up as number one in a search. I had no real idea that there were so many different and better plans out there as I have come to learn now. The plan I got was their platinum unix plan which isn't exactly cheap, but that was the only thing I knew at the time. My friend did all of the web stuff while I just marketed the site and kept the forum active. Then, I bought him out and really didn't understand everything going on. I would get into the online chats for support and you would get a response every 7 or 8 minutes. Tech support was not really able to help at all times and would direct me to sales which by the way have bankers hours. Looking through the control panel that is used compared to the newer cpanels now used, it seems very archaic. It isn't very helpful to people who don't really understand this stuff anyways. Uptime was pretty good although in the 4 years that we had the site, it went down about 8 times. Longest was for about 8 hours. Shortest about 20 minutes. It seems as though everytime I would call them to advise that the site was down they would respond that they are being attacked by something. They don't offer the various cool things that are offered now, in fact the website and plans still look exactly the same today as they did in 2001. They don't have fantastico or a bunch of the other cool features. Their prices remain the same though. I paid over $210 per year for this service and wish I would have changed over to somebody else during that time. Not entirely because I received horrible service but for the fact that I could get more features for a lot less elsewhere. Anyways, I could keep on going but on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I would rate 6star.net a 5. Mainly due to value for the money. You just don't feel like you get alot of bang for the buck with them. The person I sold my site to can't wait for the current contract to expire in June so he can switch. |
