I am a computer literate guy, i have a diploma in e-commerce and IT. But i have never gone out and actually started a business in hosting, but i really really want to. I want to get my hands out there and get experience...so i decided to start in hosting...then branch out slowly...

Could anybody please advice me to ups and downs of hosting business, and many important things i need to look for...

i mean i can be a reseller, get a dedicated server which is expensive for me...so starting in reselling is my best option...

so please give me some advice...

thanks

Yarra, do a search on this board and check previous posts in the reseller and running a webhosting biz forums. There are plenty of posts in both those forums from the past that would basically cover every aspect of the business and problems/issues hosts will face.

The first step is to write and research a business plan. You don't have to write a novel. If you find writing hard, a good idea is to just start out by creating a new word document and putting in some bullet points, and then cover them one by one. :)

Thanks DigitalXWeb for the newbie status..... lol

avara, very good point you raise about the business plan, and it should be done if this thought by Yarra is to be serious in intent. Good research of the industry from the ground up is required, covering every aspect of what needs to be known therefore limiting the knowledge gaps when creating the plan and implementing it.
