I did a search, but couldn't really find a lot of info on FindWhat.com.

Basically, are they worth it?

They're a pay per click search engine, similar to Overture.

There are too many of them already, so I'd say no

I gave them a try, but so far they are not very useful.
They are far cheaper than Overture, but drive much less traffic.

I've had ok luck with them but you get more traffic from overture.

If you don't get traffic, you don't pay much...so always worth a try.

Thanks. I think I won't sign up -- I don't like to waste an hour filling out forms which I could be using to do work for clients, and then not get many hits at all in return. So, in your opinion, which IS the best one? :)

Findwhat worked well for one site of mine. But their quality of traffic varies, and it seems like their partners are almost always changing.

With this one site, spending $20-$30 per day would garner about $60-$130 profit per day... so it worked out well. However, I had to spend a LONNNNNNNNNG time adding keywords and getting them approved... about 3000 of ‘em.

They have some hidden options at findwhat. One is a variable you can place in your heading or description that echos back the search phrase people entered. That way you can run those irrelevent “Find hosting at amazon.com” or “We got your banana skin wood chip peels at buy.com” ads very easily.

Another hidden feature is two services where you pay reps to add keywords for you. For $25, you can get 200 chosen for you one time. Or for $25 a month, they’ll add 200 every single month. Something like that.

And here’s another tip... Findwhat and all of these services... if you call them up and talk to a rep, you can almost always get them to match your starting funds. So put in $100, get $200 of credit.

A big benefit to findwhat is their interface. It’s probably the best of all services.

Overture probably has the best paying traffic, but their interface is from the underside of hell. You can make an Excel spread****, though, and upload that, but Overture keeps getting tighter and tigher about what they’ll accept. If there’s any hidden services at Overture where they’ll place bids for me, like findwhat has, tell ME about it. I’d love something like that.

Kanoodle I haven’t tried since near it’s inception, but it was worthless for me. Then again, I wasn’t advertising a hosting product. On the upside, I think I’ve read that Kanoodle has some pretty decent partners now -- whereas findwhat has been losing their good partners. Kanoodle’s interface is OK. Bearable. And I remember that they’ll definitely cut you a start up deal if you ask. Phone is always best for this stuff, unless you have social phobia like so many web workers these days. =)

You might also want to start your own affiliate program, and partner up with sites your self. That’s made me and some of the folks I help the most money on the web. Especially a well designed 2 tier bonus, where there’s some incentive for your partners to get you other partners. It’s nice watching those things grow.
