View Full Version : ssl4less certs ?

I am thinking of getting a cert from ssl4less, $99 per year and 98%+ browser acceptance.

So I have a few questions, .. I know this is the same cert that GeoTrust sells for $175, but ss4less used to sell the same for $79 not so long ago.

Are there any resellers selling the same cert that ssl4less sell cheaper?

I will be reselling from a place that uses WHM most likely (possibly McHost), does WHM provide easy way of allowing my customers to share the certificate? eg. they place their secure forms in https://secure.mydomain.com/customerdomain

Speaking of URLs .. what would you recommend,
https://domain.com https://www.domain.com or https://secure.domain.com ?

I am leaning towards the last one because it will probably catch every customers eye when they use my secure forms ..

comments, suggestions ?

Just wanted to note, if you are planning to grow later and maybe have multiple servers, you might want to choose the name of your first server right now and use it for your certificate. Example:

https://aqua.domain.com/

Anyway, if you get secure.domain.com now, you can always get aqua.domain.com later when you do move to multiple server ;)

Just a side note, if you sign up with Thawte's partner program you can get SSL certs for $100.00 and they have a greater browser compatability.

papillon,

Yes, with WHM you can point other users to http://secure.yourdomain.com/~theirusername/

I agree with Ahmad. If you have your own server, I recommend you use something like servername.domain.com. If you are a reseller running WHM, then I guess secure.domain.com will be OK.

Thanks for all your replies!

RackMy that's a great idea - are there any fees for becoming a thawte reseller? What sort of company info/papers would I need to be able to sign up for Thawte ?

We are a thawte reseller. I just can't remember what kind of documentation they require. I don't think any though.

Here is the link you want to look at:

There is no fees to become a Thawte partner and it's pretty easy. I don't rememeber all the steps, but it on Thawte's sites.

Hope that helps!

Heya papillon,

Well, no fee's to join, and I guess you could say that the only condition is that you buy your first cert at $125...

If you need info:

Adios. ;)

Heya RackMy,

Well, this fee applies to the HP more than to the client, but if they didn't charge you then hey, bonus!!:D

RackMy, do you use Raq's at all?
