Does any body know what the great benefits of exchaning links are. I know it is supposed to improve your search engine rating but i get about 10 link exchange requests a day and websites that ask for these request almost always have nothing to do with hosting but on the other hand doesn't every website have to do with hosting since it is a website and we do host website. I am asking this because i heard that linking to websites that have nothing to do with your category can hurt your search engine ranking. Please only reply to this if you have some expereince in the web hosting advertising industry.

yes if you randomly link your website and is caught by google, it will completely hurt your site ranking.

It also depends on the website, you can get quite a few hits from them.

I mainly exchange links with related sites and not for pr but the traffic they can send me.

Its all about the trafic!
