Now this is weird. I've had to do some host-shopping lately, so I was browsing the Advertising forums today when I found this one: http://www.eshoredirect.com/hosting/hosting.php
Now does this look familiar? (Well, it does to me since I've been to practically every host there is by now ) Have a look here: http://www.site5.com/virtual/

I don't know... Are these people in some way affiliated? Something I'm completely unaware of? Resellers? Site5 was one of my choices, but I'm not sure what to think now.

Seems to have mysteriously dissapeared. First the images and then the rest of it.

Hmm.. looks like one of them copied the other... I have an account at Site5 at the moment, I'll bring this to their attention.

I wonder if it's any use since they so promptly removed their entire site after I posted this... Not much to worry about anymore, I guess.

I can still access the site from here.. but anyway, Site5 sent a reply to me that they are not affiliated with them in any way and have their own in-house design team.. they would come with a public statement later :) (I'm really happy with them btw).

Yep. Sites back up, and now they've decided to post a little advert on all the forums. :|

Hi People,
Listen, thanks very much for bringing this to my attention. We contacted outside help!!!!

Who has obvisouly copied site5. I would like to apologise to site5 and it's member for this mixiup.

We have since taken our site offline (losing a lot of money) and are in the process for redesigning our site (ourselves)

Thanks

DIRECTOR

Now come on. Let's at least wait until a company establishes a track record of copying before automatically assuming their claims are BS. *championhost -- cough cough*

Which of the following responses would you have preferred?
"My web designer assured me it was an orginal design. We're not responsible, so we're going to keep it up."
"You can't copyright web designs. Good luck prosecuting us."
"I am very bad at web design, so I borrowed this one."

I think they responded as well as a professional outfit should.

Let's assume you meant

A. My web designer assured me it was an orginal design. We're not responsible, so we're going to keep it up."
B. You can't copyright web designs. Good luck prosecuting us.
C. I am very bad at web design, so I borrowed this one.

I would have prefered "C". At least it would have been honest. :D
