Quick question for you folks...

I run a hobby site on wireless networking, and I'm interested in spending a little bit of money on advertising it (btw, the site is at http://www.wispinfo.com if anyone is interested in wireless networking, etc.

Anyhow, I'm in the middle of doing Google AdWords for it, but I would like to get a banner ad done and on some of ther bigger/better hardware sites.

Where do I begin? I know I need to find someone to create a quick banner, but what next? What are the banner ad urls of companies that can do selective placement?

What kind of cost should I be prepared for to do this?

Thanks!

Tom

some sites have their own advertising, many are partners in major internet advertisers.. here's a couple:

www.doubleclick.com
www.burstmedia.com
www.247media.com
and finally, the www.iab.net (internet advertising bureau) - their member listing shows a lot of other sites.

My advise is to cut a deal directly with sites you're interested in advertising on. You can usually negotiate much better rates and custom positioning via this route.

Agreed - in the past when I've had to advertise for sites, contacting directly works very well...
