View Full Version : What you think about SITETURN.COM? I am not sure that it is good hosting service.
harley 02-21-2002, 11:16 AM Hi guys!
We have decided to find new hosting service for expansion of our services and have chosen Siteturn.
Pluses:
15 place in a tophosts rating,
500Mb space+subdomains+domain aliases (we shortly should merge and should support old and new domain names) + unlimited traffic.
First four days our webmaster could not find contact with siteturn, they do not respond! But already 7-th day, we can not receive a mail (POP3+IMAP is down!), adjust SSL and we are going to return money.
Can be not hurry up? Your opinion?
diederik 02-21-2002, 12:35 PM DO NOT USE THEM (ANYMORE)
I signed up with them, for an account.
I asked some simple question by mail. After 4 days no replies. Sent them mail again. A week later no reply.
I had to ask them another question ( still no reply on my first one ), so I e-mailed them again. A few days later, no reply on my two mailes. Then I mailed their billing mail address. Two days later a reply for them, that I mailed to wrong mail address, and that I need to mail the right address ( which I did like 100 times ).
So i mailed them to cancel my account.
No reply. Two weeks later, no reply.
After 35 days they finally replied and finally cancelled my account.
There are a lot of better hosts than SiteTurn, and I don't mean ***** :D
mriwh 03-06-2002, 04:31 PM I came on this forum just for the hell of it to check out people's comments on my host and I am pretty amazed
I have used SiteTurn for over 2 years now for my web site and we get a pretty decent amount of traffic, we do job searches. I have had nothing but excellent service from them, so I would not listen to the crap that is floating around from one or two people on this board. There is a reason why two seperate rating sites rate them in the top 25, www.hostindex.com and www.tophosts.com. That's where I found them and it has worked-out perfectly.
Just be smart, don't expect 30GB of traffic and 2GB of diskspace for $15/month. That is stupidity. If you need a good web host, here are a few suggestions:
1. www.siteturn.com
2. www.hostway.com
3. www.hostpro.com
Check out my site to test SiteTurn: www.mriwh.com
Good luck!
Collin, Webmaster
Hello mriwh :)
I like your design! (Despite some 404s ...).
Site Turn
Ive had a personal experience with siteturn and it SUCKS !!!!
First of all their customer service dont know how to do anything !
I got the ecommerce plan from them and after i got the account and asked about the shopping cart software this is what they told me:
go to www.commerce-cgi.com and download the free shopping cart and install it yuorself !!!
After i decided to change my account i went to another host but it took me 3 months to cancel it and i wanted to cancel it from the second day !! and i got charged for the three months and never got a refund !!!!
Short Story, Dont go neer them !!!
Just to see how crappy they are, take a look at their MAIN website (siteturn.com) and see how many dead links you find just on the main page !!!! Disregarding the Search thats not working :)

mriwh 03-07-2002, 04:41 AM Sina, considering that SiteTurn is a Miva Premier Partner www.miva.com, I find it hard to believe that you were sent to download software from a free site. Check your facts.

mriwh-
What's your purpose here? You just happen to stumble across a website discussing Site Turn? That was pretty lucky!
So, let's see (Kevin). You're purpose (Kevin) is to call people giving an account of their experience liars (Kevin).
Who the hell are you (Kevin) to say such things? You don't know these people.
Or do you?

SiteTurn 03-07-2002, 03:11 PM Hello all,
I got a link to this forum from one of our customers, no, not mriwh.com, and I thought I would take some time to respond to some of these comments. I am an employee of SiteTurn, my name is James and I am at extension 314 if anyone would like to call and verify.
There has been a lot of non-sense going around, most of which is not factual, and yes, some of which may be true. I am not coming out to tell everyone we are the best, or we are the worst. You can determine that on your own if you'd like. However, a few things to note...
1. Anyone who questions UNLIMITED bandwidth can view our terms of service (http://www.siteturn.com/legal/aup.htm). We clearly state that there are certain limitations, and we enforce them. A recent customer that I dealt with, conitecserver.com, is using 50GB+/month and is still only paying $13.95/month. Since they are within our terms of service, they are OK.
2. Regarding diederik's posting, I would have to have the domain name on the account to comment further.
3. Regarding sina's posting, what's being stated is false. We have been a Premier Hosting Partner of Miva Corp. for almost a year now. Before then, we were a standard partner. All of our E-Commerce Accounts include Miva software, either Miva Order or Miva Merchant. However, again, if I wanted to comment more, I would need the domain name.
4. Regarding sbrad's comments. It seems sbrad (Stephen Bradley, formerly a Lanset/Hostik employee- I did some research of my own...) has some personal issues that will be dealt with internally. I have referred some of his comments, etc. to our management and they will address it as necessary.
Truly, the only valid comments have been made by diederik, which I would like for him/her to give some more information about so that I can advise further. Other than that, a lot of what is here leaves room for questioning.
We currently have almost 20,000 subscribers to our services and we add about 1,200 customers a month. It is guaranteed that we will have unhappy customers from time-to-time, as this is a fact in the ISP world. I got laid-off from Relera not too long ago and you should hear the complaints that larger companies are making to their service providers!!
Anyway, I hope we can all just put this issue to bed now without any hard feelings. Again, if anyone really has a desire to pursue this further, you can call me or e-mail me @ jwright@siteturn.com.
Thanks, and good luck!
sbrad 03-07-2002, 03:21 PM has some personal issues that will be dealt with internally
No, no personal issues.
I've not trashed anyone, just called it like I saw it. Whether it was you or someone else that masquraded themselves as someone else, it was still against the rules of this forum and in extremely poor taste.
4. Regarding sbrad's comments. It seems sbrad (Stephen Bradley, formerly a Lanset/Hostik employee- I did some research of my own...)
Big revelation there. I've been here for quite a while, and alot of people around here know me. Want my address?
Well i Wish you the Best as a MIVA CERTIFIED PARTNER !!!
But if you have that many customers you seem to be a large company, I dont think such a company with 1200 subscriptions a month needs to post fake COMMENTS as regular people !! I mean your time in such a COMPANY should be worth more than this !!
