Hi,
Can anyone point me to some information on creating a subdomain on a raq3i?
I want to do the following:
I already all the dns on my machine setup for mydomain.com and http://www.mydomain.com and it resolves just fine.
Now I want to have support.mydomain.com how do you set this up on a raq3i machine?
Thanks,
Bbox

Same way, just subsitute 'support' instead of 'www' for the host name.

As a side note, you'd think you'd always check those two boxes, but you don't. What those boxes mean is to accept mail and show pages if you type in the hostname (generally 'www') or not.
So you should only check those boxes when you set up the domain with 'www' as the host name, and *not* when you set up subdomains. You don't want to have the server think that 'billy.domain.com' is the same thing as 'domain.com' (unless you do, of course).

Thanks,
I think their must be some sort of caching going on, because I set it up and it refused to work afterwards. I blasted off a note to the provider, but when I checked it today, it worked just fine.
So there must be some sort of caching going on on the raq3i.
Thanks for the info about the checkboxes, that had me stumped as to what it really meant.

Does this 'extra' host name feature only apply to the original machine domain or is there a way to add sub domains to another domain.
For example, I have a virtual site -- http://www.domain.com and when I try to make another virtual site, (even on a different IP) called -- hostname.domain.com, it says that the domain is already aliased ???
The other 'sub domain' also has its own DNS set up.

As long as you point name.thatdomain.com to the ip you assign it, it'll work ok
