I got my own site and everything thou. Chapel 02-21-2002, 06:18 AM Well you can code it in to do it automatically, and some programs will automatically do it. But sometimes its nice knowing everything about the accounts you make, if your the only person running the company. You can talk to the customer, know what they want and are. You dont want customers with adult content when your host wont allow it. Bad for you. Anyways, as I said above, you can, but I prefer to do it manually, its more personal. But more tedius too. Chapel SeriousHost 02-22-2002, 07:40 PM Doing it manually seems like the way to go, just so you know for yourself that everything is setup correctly. However, that can also be time consuming, so the debate has two sides. 21inchguns 02-22-2002, 09:53 PM I do it all manually to triple check for possible fraud or anything that might look strange.......and it shouldnt't take ya too long...........unless you are getting 100 signups a day......... xnet 02-22-2002, 09:57 PM even if you are getting 100 sign ups a day - I would still do it manually. For example - let says someone autocrates an account at 3AM - starts spamming like crazy, serving porn, warez ... you name it. You don't find out till you wake up, have your coffee to really wake you up :D, till like 10AM... You cancel them - but they've already used like 10GB of bandwidth .... not good. What if this were to happen daily... I feel much safer doing it manually :D DigitalXWeb 02-22-2002, 10:38 PM I think 21inchguns and xnet hit the nail right on the head with their posts, those will surely come your way if everything is 100% automated. You can automate the account creation after the order is processed through a queue for checking the above scenarios. This is my prefered method this way you are able to manually check the orders then click a button and the account is setup automatically.. xnet 02-23-2002, 12:21 AM I'm using Cpanel... account creation is a breeze ... enter their domain name, user name is auto created, enter a password, select a pre-defined package, click if frontpage is wanted... submit... so simple :) tazd9t9 02-23-2002, 08:14 AM Hi, i use CPanel and Plesk, its easier to set up accounts on c panel in my view because i am not yet used to plesk. I find that manual set up is far better as i can check on what my customers are uploading and i can check for fraud etc :) |
