You should issue form 1099 to closely held corporations, partnerships and individuals who received more than $600 from you. We have issued 1099 to some of our vendors and etc.

But I'm not an accountant so you need to contact yours.

Dimitar,

Yes I know and I spent 6 hours with my accountant at my home last night having him setup us up with Quickbooks (can't wait to see that bill) but my main question was do you issue 1099? NOT should I.

Thanks for your reply.:)

Yes eMax. You have to issue 1099 to each closely held corporation, partnership or individual who received more than $600 from you in 2004.

Best Regards
Dimitar

Yes you should and they must be out by 1/31/05 for tax year 2004.

I have seen them go out for as little as $300.00 for a tax year. Have the vendor, reseller, or affiliates sign the W-9 form before you send a 1099.

rofl...As I really do appreciate everyone reply, again my question and reason of starting this thread was asking "Do you issue 1099?" NOT should I.

Considering I don't outsource... I issue W2 forms to my support/sysadmin techs.

OK now here is a question for everyone. How do you issue 1099 for companies/individuals outside the USA? Or does that even matter to the government?

Issue a 1099 to anyone INSIDE the USA that received more than $600 (you can send them out for less, but are not required. You are not even required to have the SSN of a subcontractor if he receives less than $600 from you).

I've sent them out in the past, but now I work mostly with companies rather than individuals, so I haven't had to.
