Now, I currently run WinAxis. Specializing in both Windows and Linux hosting. My current ordering, members and admin system are all fully coded by myself, well over 8,000 lines of code all in all.

Anyway, i'm looking to dump my stuff, because i need more features, and i need them fast. Clientexec and Modernbill both look good, I've heard clientexec is buggy, but i've used modernbill before, and it's built for integration with my hosting systems, and I want to do that stuff manually, i've tried it before with modernbill and it's almost as bad as setting up the accoutns via E-Mail :-/ (much longer i might add).

Anyway, Clientexec is the only thing really within my range, mind you my PHP skills could enhance most of the scripts i use anyway. I was just wondering if i could get feedback and reccomendations on clientexec, modernbill, or anything else that does the same thing.

Thanks :)

It looks like you've ruled out ModernBill.
I know you "need them fast", but I wouldn't let 8000 lines of code that I've written go to waste.
Why not call Clientexec and ask how customizable they are?
Better yet, hire an expert coder to add features on top of your existing code.
Sorry if this doesn't exactly answer your question, but as a coder, I can tell you that you'll regret just tossing out your code.

Go with ClientExec hands down and I am sure if you go to the ClientExec website they will answer any of the questions you have. Everyone I know uses ClientExec and the support at the company is great!

ClientExec and Modernbill are very different packages. ClientExec is missing some key features, make sure you don't need them before you go paying for a license... and to answer the question, no, CE is not very "hackable" as Alberto keeps the code almost completely encrypted.

Modernbill has come a long way... It is very complex, but also much more powerful and has a million more features. It just depends on the kind of flexibility and the bottom-line features you need.

WinAxis, you really need to do a Search (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?) for ClientExec here at WHT... I posted detailed comparisons from my experience with the two packages, over the last 2 months... I'm not going to repeat myself, the information hasn't changed in that time.

Best of luck with your migration, hope it goes smoothly! :cartman:

I've managed to add the main feature onto my script, it may buy me more time, but i'm not really sure. I am still looking into it, if client exec and modernbill have enough source open, i may buy them to integrate my system into that system, maybe even integrate all three systems just to come up with the best solution.

We used ModernBill ourselves and recommended it to our partners over a year ago. While we found ModernBill to be a very good billing program, it lacked the ability to handle package add-ons. This same problem with package add-ons lead us to abandon ClientExec also. We have been using DRAMS Plus and find that it is a closer match for how we conduct sales, billing and account setup. My advice would be not to rush into a decision regarding your choice of billing systems. Make sure that the system you purchase has all the features you need at the time you purchase it, because as we have experienced, promises of features to come in the future never come when you need them, or never come at all. We were happy to see that DRAMS Plus could be leased from month to month. We’re still a little steamed with ModernBill, who promised us a refund, but never sent us a check.

I know that ClientExec is difficult to completely integrate into a GUI, but it's so customizable you wouldn't really notice. You have complete header/footer control, and the middle is pretty much just white space. I don't know much about ModernBill, but I could definately recommend ClientExec. My partner (blahrus on the forum) does support for ClientExec, he could tell you quite a lot about them if you have questions.

I enjoy whmautopilot, I moved from clientexec, has more features and love the automatic install.

I would highly recommend modernbill as well. The new version MB 5 which is due out in the near future is going to be packed with new features and modules. The good thing about modernbill is it's not made just for CPanel. For instance, if you use plesk, helm(MB 5), ensim, or any other control panel the chances are modernbill supports it along with a huge variety of payment processors. MB 5 will also include the Jenox order form which is much much better than the Order Wizard. As far as customizeing goes, it should not be too difficult. You can customize your own order form, customer login area and much more.

question... does clientexec have a signup feature for you clients like they can sign up through Lpanel?

Clientexec is encrypted by IonCube, so you can not modify it.

AgileBill might be something you could use--90% open source.

Yes it does. It generates signup pages for all the packages you create. You can then modify these sign up pages to blend in with the look of your site.

ModernBill is great for billing, been using it for over 3 years. Try considering their leasing options.
