In this bad economy, one of my shopping site
is actually growing very fast. My current host
is too expensive and I need to move
2-3 of my servers to a better host. I have 12 servers hosted on 3 ISP.
I am looking at:
Dual PIII 866 (or similar), 1024 MDram, 2 x 18 Gig SCSI HD, 200 Gig initial bandwidth per month, burstable. Extra bandwidth around $1.50 per gig.
No setup, 6 months pre-pay (YES, we pre-pay to cover your machine cost), price below $500 per month per machine. If the host is good, we will move our servers. I do mean "large" business here.
Anything closer to this?

If you need that type of set up, I wouldn't use a reseller or someone hosting equipement in a DC across the state or country from where their office is.
If you have a large business needing those servers, I would go with Rackspace, Verio, etc... You want the person you call to be in the DC ready to fix things.

Anyone paying dedicated, using about 200 gig bandwidth per month, please comment.
Host | Price | up-time | support
The bottom line, the price + support. Which is better.

Just wondering.... You have a site that uses 200+ Gigs of bandwidth and your using a yahoo account??...
Sorry... Just picky... (Trying to cut down on the bandwidth in any way shape or form:D ?)
using different free email account is a way to hide their indentity, in this case, it's obvious.
Ummphh - if I ever mention someone using a yahoo/hotmail account, I get flamed
Lats...

Hi,
I am trying to get an independent view. In the past, when I use my email to get references, people will look at my host and give comments! Usually bad comments on my current host and praise the host they recommended (wonder why  )
If I'm giving comments, I use another username with my signature. So, you could imagine....

I suggest two things:
1. www.venturesonline.com = good and reliable, not the cheapest but cheaper than the real big ones.
2. Post a request in the hosting request forum

Yeah, I second that. After moving to their own data center, VenturesOnline seems to be better now. I think they would be glad to give you a good deal as well.
