View Full Version : WeRegisterDomains trying to sell my domain name

WARNING: I registered a domain name with the Dynonames in October 2004. Since then they seem to have been taken over by WeRegisterDomains.com. WeRegisterDomains.com is listing my domain name as available. My registration is still valid. GoDaddy lists my domain as taken.

This is the second time this registrar has undergone a name change in about a year. (I mean them changing THEIR own name). This latest transformation seems also to bring with it a change in ownership. There isn't much explanation as to how or why. There has been very little attempt to let dynonames.com customers know where their company went. Formerly when I did send e-mails with inquiries about products or services to Dynonames e-mail addresses they went unanswered. One e-mail address given for Dynonames on their website was no longer existent when I wrote to it.

Other than that, things seemed to be fine, until this latest incident.

From my understanding you can push your names from one WWD reseller to another. I would suggest domainut.com I've had mine with him for about 1.5 years or so. There is also a default account which you can access your domain from but I'm not sure what the link is. I would send Godaddy an email and ask them what you can do.

You cannot push between WWD resellers nor GoDaddy.

open a new godaddy account, and transfer it.

or transfer to a different registrar.


I'd inform godaddy immediately.

I would tend to agree. Just transfer the domain name to a reputable registrar.

Correction: The Dynonames website wasn't down, just inaccessible to my cable internet provider for some reason. I had tried dozens of times, and tried tricks like accessing secondary pages. The main point still stands. WeRegisterDomains has refused to correct their listing of my domain as available, even when sent documentation. This is from their CEO. The say they are taking over for Dynonames but they say they have no record of my as a customer. Documentation of same was not interesting to them. I'll post the e-mails here.

I checked with GoDaddy or (their subsidiary?) Domains by Proxy and in their records, all of my domains are listed in my name, including the one in WeRegisterNames thinks is available. They say not to worry. GoDaddy was not eager to contact WeRegisterDomains about this, or to tell me what happened with their resellers. They seem to have little or no information about this, which is wrong. I asked them to contact WeRegisterDomains. I don't know if they have.

Thanks everyone for your input. I don't know about this reseller thing if they are so unstable and their "parent" company doesn't intervene. GoDaddy isn't perfect either, witness recent interaction. It would, hopefully, be more secure.
