If I offered dedicated servers on the website, I would only do it with a merchants account or something. Anky 01-26-2005, 05:44 PM MightyAphrodite, 2Checkout is used widely on many sites, it's not a bad choice. If you're going to be handling higher priced billing, I would consider a merchant's account from someone like Echo-Inc. Also, search around on the forum, this isn't the first time someone is using 2Checkout. :) keliix06 01-26-2005, 05:59 PM Yes, general rule of thumb is once you hit about $1000/month in processing, it's time to look for a merchant account. I currently use paypal/2co, but will likely be upgrading to a merchant account shortly after talking with my accountant. dmetzcher 01-26-2005, 06:02 PM We started with a merchant account from the beginning. The feeling was that it appeared more professional to the customer and made things with out automated billing system simpler. The latter was more important in making the decision because billing automation was a major need in our eyes. joshuayip 01-26-2005, 10:48 PM Originally posted by keliix06 Yes, general rule of thumb is once you hit about $1000/month in processing, it's time to look for a merchant account. When you get a merchant account, does it provide you interfaces like shopping cart, API for charging just like 2CO? Joshua No you need a gateway like netbilling.com dmetzcher 01-26-2005, 11:06 PM Originally posted by joshuayip When you get a merchant account, does it provide you interfaces like shopping cart, API for charging just like 2CO? Joshua I'm not sure about others on this board, but I have a merchant account with Authorize.net. There was no shopping cart provided. I didn't need one, however, because we could build our own, if needed, and because we use H-Sphere which has its own billing and payment system. For non-US customers the figure would be around $5000-10000/month though. Billing 01-27-2005, 01:46 AM The company I work for has done it in every way mentioned above. After trying them all we now do it manually. I physically type all the daily transactions into a Quicken point of sale cash register. I suppose a third party processor is good if you don't have the sales volume to afford anything else but the flexibility in payments is prcatically non existent without a merchant account. You NEED the card number on hand or you are screwed in the long run. MightyAphrodite 01-27-2005, 12:09 PM Authorize.net, hummm i'm going to look them up MightyAphrodite 01-27-2005, 12:30 PM Originally posted by xanthion http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=368121 stay away humm |
