View Full Version : Scam Alert!!!
dtheehost 01-26-2005, 02:39 PM Just wanted to alert everyone about SyndicateHosting.net. I bought a reseller account on eBay (yeah, i know) and recently the server has been down alot. I just tried to log in to the WHM, and my login does not work. It looks like the guy just up and left with many people's money. So beware of this name, Syndicate Hosting, and the owner Andy.
Looks like I am going to a VPS or dedicated now. If anyone has any suggestions of affordable, RELIABLE VPS or dedicated servers, please post em all ASAP! Thanks!

What would you expect? :)
dtheehost 01-26-2005, 04:01 PM I know... I regret that descision. But it looked like a great reliable company. I wonder if he copied his info form a better company? Well, I just wanted to warn everyone else about this scam. DON'T TRUST ANY HOSTING COMPANIES FORM EBAY! I got shared hosting, scam... Reseller hosting, scam. And always check WHT!
eSited 01-26-2005, 05:45 PM Good thing you've learned a lesson :)
always check WHT!
That's right
DogoTek 01-26-2005, 11:48 PM Thanks for the info. You seem to be taking it well ........... Good Luck.
joshuayip 01-27-2005, 02:52 AM Curious... what was that amount that you spent , and how many times more are you willing to spend this time to get a good hoster? Dont have to tell us the figure, just wanting to know from a consumer point of view =)

jt2377 01-27-2005, 04:40 AM i want to know the ebay ID of the guy that scam your money. it will be interesting to look at his feedback
dtheehost 01-28-2005, 11:53 PM OK, to reply to the last few posts...
I am taking this well because similar things have happened before 3 times, and it is just getting old. The last 2 were reliable companies, but their servers blocked me from my server, and I got a refund. But since this company's whole server is gone, I can't even submit a support ticket or anything! And the email address is from his domain name! I had his phone number, but it isn't in my cell phone memory anymore. And their IM "helpchat" hasn't been online since this whole thing happened.
For the amount I spent, I was sure I would have to get a new provider again soon, so I got the cheap'n. I only paid $80 for a year's service. Three months later... Goodbye year. Now, I am just going to set up a "bedroom server" at a friends house until I can get the money to buy a VPS. It depends on how much I would pay. Probably up to $30/ month.
And for the eBay ID, I do not know. I can't go back and see because "items I won" only go back 60 days, and I left no feedback, nor did they. I do know that their WHT username is syndicate.
gilbert 01-29-2005, 12:12 AM thanks for the warnings man
Eiolon 01-29-2005, 12:34 AM I wonder if it's the same Andy from x-gravity.net...
dtheehost 01-29-2005, 12:59 AM It probably is because x-gravity.net is blank now. And I googled it, and there are so many unsatisfied customers who have my same story! Watch out for Andys in the hosting world! He might start a new "company" every few months. Scary to think about! Toodles.
dtheehost 01-29-2005, 01:03 AM Just a thought... If you know of an Andy who gave you his phone number as a contact, and it starts with 916(Sacramento/Roseville, CA), please send me an email! I really want to catch this guy if I can. Thanks!
prodigious 01-30-2005, 01:47 AM Just do a SyndicateHosting.net whois search and you'll get the phone number and address listed for the domain, might be worth trying to call that.

95% sure it isn't ;)
dtheehost 02-04-2005, 07:28 PM  I am so very angry. I found another site of his with his personal AIM account. I im'ed him, and he told me his true (really?) and sad story...
"The server crashed, and I sent an email telling everyone not to post negative feedback, but it was too late, so I just shut it down." :bawling: ... RIGHT!!! I asked for a refund, and no response. Well, I am going to a VPS from rackforce next Wednesday.
dkbain 02-11-2005, 02:51 PM Before you signup with any company’s look in contact information if they have a phone number, call there and look if any person is there to pickup the phone, and look on a history of the company how long they exist in business.
Those people a fresh, I want trust them any way http://whois.sc/SyndicateHosting.net

And if they don’t have a phone numbers don’t ever go with them.
Also make sure when you order VPS it comes with control panel because some providers offer it as add one.

what!!!
ive doen a lot of business on ebay and i dont rip anyone off!
you people need to start being accountable for your OWN lack of business sense and quit blaming ebay and other advertising venues for YOUR failure to do due diligence!
dtheehost 02-11-2005, 05:40 PM All I was saying is that I bought hosting 3 times on eBay from what looked to be respectable companies, and all they turned out to be were scams. I'm sure there could possibly be some real companies selling on eBay, but I have yet to hear from them. The only companies I have read about on WHT, HT.com, WebDevForums.com, etc. that sell on eBay seem to be "cookie cutter" scams. Even the ones that say "We know there are some scammers on eBay, but you can trust us" have turned out to be scammers in my experience. I do not have any lack of business sense, and I do contact every business before I order from them. But in today's world, any little kid with a couple dollars, or even a ripped off credit card number can start a professional looking hosting company. There are free live support scripts online, cheap 800 numbers online, etc. that help any person look like a respectable business. That was all I was saying. Tootles.
