Sometimes I really have to wonder if democracy is really a good idea.

Take the latest idiocy from the British government: The Export Control Bill.

Under this bill, the act of discussing my research with my supervisor will constitute the export of technology used in the production, testing, and use of weapons of mass destruction.

If this bill passes, I think I'll have to change my signature... to something like

Proudly exporting nuclear weapons technology since 2002.

Technicaly speaking:

If you say somebodies name in a pub then you are breaking the data protection act as you are disclosing private information in a insecure medium.

So i would have to change my signature to:


--
Disclosing your private information in breach of the data protection act since 1998.


(*1998 is when the data protection act came into force, or atleast the amended version)
