With VPSs becoming more and more widely available I am wondering what is going to happen in the future.

There is some indication that VPSs will generally take over reseller accounts based on searches and people talking about them around different forums.

Will reseller accounts disappear and VPSs replace that market? How would something like impact the future web hosting business/market?

With the prices of vps dropping it will affect reseller hosting I believe. But the more valuable group (designers) arent tech savy, therefor ewould still want a reseller account over a vps. They also pay better and are less hassle support wise. I think httpme, and the likes will still go on strong while companies who do not specialize in reseller hosting and only offer it as a add in will get hit the hardest.

I just see it as a natural mid step before customers moving to a dedicated.

Reseller -> VPS -> Dedicated

I think the industry in a whole needs this middle step so those wanting to make the move from Reseller to learning more do not have to spend $200+ a month for trial and error.

Just my 2 cents.

I think their popularity will continue to rise. the lack of limits on features makes them attractive.

managed servers are common. there could be a few more hosts offering managed VPSes.
