View Full Version : Flyers? Successfull for you or not?
ITSconcepts 01-23-2005, 09:45 PM Hello Everyone,
I am thinking of printing 1000 postcard print ads to drop off at 1000 business suites in the local. Wondering what the success is in that? Out of 1000, do you think you can get 10 clients?
Share your flyer success or failure.
Thanks
You shoud be able to answer this yourself, think about it
First determine what the market wants, then offer what they want
Keep track of how many people reply back at all. If you get many, you're giving them what they want. If you don't get many replies, make sure you're offering something they want.
Also, for those who do call, be prepared in advance what you can do about pricing. I'm not sure what you're doing, but if you don't have a portfolio, offer the first group of people a discount to build a portfolio.
Another thing, I would do maybe 300-400 flyers a week for a month. This way if you somehow get 5 orders in the first week, you won't be swamped with the rest.
gghosting 01-24-2005, 11:03 AM That is a good idea. We didn't do anything like that yet, but I wouldn't give out 1000 at one time because you may get swamped with work. Maybe try 100 a week or something around that. Also put on the flyers that this offer is only vaild for local businesses, a special-local offer only, you can bring in more clients that way because the local businesses feel special.
334online 01-24-2005, 11:23 AM I printed about 3000 flyers in the past six months and have gotten mixed response. I operate out of Montgomery, AL and have the city + four smaller cities around us. Of the 3000 flyers, I put a reference code on the bottom of 300 of the flyers (example: East Montgomery = 101, South = 102, East = 103, West = 104, Downtown = 105, Outer City 1 = 201, City = 202, etc.) When a person calls in we inquire how they heard about us or if they have a flyer what the reference code is. If we get no calls out of a particular area, I will no longer focus marketing there and will concentrate on the areas where I am getting calls.
Direct mailing of post cards did not work for me nor did advertising in the local papers. My flyers have been put out at local shops, car washes, local mall, etc. I have even made an agreement with a local pizza place to tape the flyers to the top of their delivery orders. My main business has come through word of mouth and getting out pounding the streets to meet customers.
If possible, you may be able to setup some kind of service for product exchange with your local printer or business where you provide them web hosting or web design in exchange for them printing your postcards or flyers. It has definatley saved me a ton of money and made a good referral source.

What did you offer the local pizza place in return for the flyer?
WHRKit 01-25-2005, 10:26 AM Flyers have worked pretty for me in different occasions - not only hosting. But you should have a version for small business clients and for residential customers to show them how they would benefit from your services.
334online 01-25-2005, 02:24 PM I did some free ads on some local websites that I host in exchange for them putting the flyers on the tops of delivery boxes. It is not a continuous thing - maybe done on a quarterly basis - especially September to End of Year to promote custom computer systems and other products just in time for Christmas.
ITSconcepts 01-26-2005, 10:28 PM Did you provide pricing on the flyers? Full color?
zzhdotcom 01-26-2005, 10:38 PM good biz idea!
