Hi everyone, I'm new here, but I've read your comments and respect your advice.

What would be the best way to go about becoming a domain reseller? A colleague and I are about to launch a hosting company and we want to be able to provide our clients with a domain registration service.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

I would seriously look into becoming an openSRS (http://www.opensrs.net) reseller, if you do a search for openSRS here at WHT you'll see what kind of opeation they run.

I've been thinking about DotRegistrar.com. They seem to have the best prices.

openSRS are imho the best but a bit pricy to start with.
A cheaper start is www.dotster.com

Welcome to the club :-)

I dont know about aplus.net

but i know dotster.com

and i can tell you that they pay not in time but they pay
i am working with them and they are ok

from 1 to 10 i give them a 6.

but it is easy to set up , you can do it in 30 min and you are online working.

Good luck

i recommend enom.com
the service is good, prices are good, they offer a lot of free services bundled with their domains which may be attractive to potential registrants.
Their registry rocket system is good in that like dotster, they do the billing and you earn a commission over and above the base price. Its fully automated and you dont have to worry about fraudulent registrations and stuff like that.

Best part is that the interface is very simple to use. I have had a look at dotregistrar, the prices are good there and I was tempted to use them, but the interface is not very user friendly.

I signed up with dotster. Good prices, and they allow you to integrate your site design into the signup process. Which is also good.

Here's my problem. When going through the process of registering a name, a window keeps popping up saying:

This page contains both secure and unsecure items.
Do you want to display the unsecure items?

I'm assuming they're refering to my images. When I emailed them about it, they said that I'd have to get a security certificate for my images to avoid the message popping up.

Anyone out there using dotster? If so, how have you overcome this problem?

Not anymore.

There are 2 ways I know of you can overcome this:

1. Dont use any images! :(
2. Host your images on a secure server! :) (This is what I do)

How many images are you using and what size? If they are small and dont work up too much bandwidth, Ill host them for you through my server for FREE! :)

Regards.

I use dotster to manage my domains- it's top notch in that respect. I have noticed that their reseller features are quite nice - but have anyone else noticed that they are slow - too slow to even use. For example namespin - I tried a few times today to enter some words in namespin and it just sat there and never did return anything. I'm interested in reselling myself or at least providing more features - but it has to be fast and reliable :)

Very generous of you, thanks. I did solve my problem so it won't be necessary. But thanks very much for the kind offer, Webhozt.

Hello Everyone,

I just installed OpenSRS software and I am ready to start with them.

What do you suggest for billing registration costs? I have used revecom and clickbank but neither of them is suitable for this purpose.
