MY marketing campaign was all set... paid the money, got the pdf of all the ads. Edited and designed by a graphic design firm, Cause i know my competitos dont do this...

Well the magazine came out today, FUNNY ENOUGH all my competitor ads are perfect!!! Perfect!! not in design but they way there are printer on the magazine.

Mine on the other hand, They have missed out on around 7 lines of text and have moved things around... Loosing or my best offers and pricing for my packages!

I call the sons of b&^%h and they deny they ever touched the file at all... its a PDF for gods sake, the way i made it was the way i wanted it on the F**K magazine.

Im waiting for them to send the pdf back to me, and i know how to get them... How can i prove them wrong, they can send me the ORIGNAL pdf i sent to them... See if they send me theres i can see the date that it was last modified.

Anyway i just want to give it all up, i am a new company, and i dont have that much capital to throw around... and now my main ad source has failed me, i just dont feel there is any point going on
:bawling: :bawling:

I will keep everyone updated, and for all the people who advertise in australia pm me so i can tell you the mag that stuffed me around!

Sounds pretty bad that they would edit your ad. Can you post a scanned image of it?

Did you do this via credit card? If so call them and tell them to re-run your ad correctly or you will do a chargeback.

I've run ads in the past too, with the damn company making lame spelling errors everywhere, including prices. Damn I *almost* *almost* punched their ad designer in the freakin' nuts. I'm not kidding.

Having seen both sides, client and editor, my experience is that when a screw-up like this happens, the ad must be re-run FOR FREE in the next issue.

Which mag was this so we know not to do business :) If you paid by creidt card you have no worrys simply call your credit card and dispute is on the basis of you did not recieve what you should have. Any reputable media firm should have made you sign off on a copy any how before they printed.

That's very interesting. It sounds like a competitor has some ownership interests in that publication. What magazine is it?

maybe worth phoning Dept. of Fair Trading (in NSW or equivalent in other states) to get advice

I believe that they also have a small claims tribunal that can order a refund in certain circumstances

Well, if I can offer this advice:

Don't fly off the handle too soon. It could have been a harmless error on someone's part, and whoever you spoke to was probably just passing the buck like everyone does. I've worked at a newspaper -- it happens in print media, you know.

You should call up the head of the advertising department -- and in a calm, cool tone, tell them that your ad got messed up, and that you would like to discuss what can be done about it. After all, it's not fair that they run a distorted version of your ad, and they'll understand that. A high-enough person up the chain will understand that. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE POLITE ABOUT IT. Don't go threatening lawsuits, trying to get what you want. That's the surest way to get shoveled off to the "Do not call back" pile. Before you know it, you'll have burned all your bridges and you'll be up ****creek without a paddle.

That's how you get what you want.
