Greetings all,
A few days ago we registered a couple of domains through www.stargate.com and they have still not showed up in our account. We emailed them and they told us to sign up for their helpdesk and contact support that way, we did that a few days ago and still no answer from them. The domain names we registered are not available for registeration anymore, but it doesn't look like we own them either. They just took our money!
We just want to warn everyone to stay way from them, it's not worth the headache to save a few bucks..
I guess it's true what they say, "You get what you pay for!".

I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced the same problems I did. I went one step further and actually re-registered one domain that didn't show up in my account. The second time it worked but then I got double-billed. I'm still trying to fight them on it and would simply do a chargeback but don't want them to yank the domain thinking I'm cancelling it. In any case, their support is the worst. I've used their support system and they never respond in a timely manner. I actually called them (and of course had to leave a message) and their voice mail stated to use their support system.
Even while with them and happy I still had some domains with Dotster. I have now transferred the remaining domains there and am just waiting for it to finalize. Then Stargate will no longer be a thorn in my side.
Good luck...

We have almost all of our domains with OpenSRS registerars (www.000domains.com and www.weblaunching.net), just thought we should give stargate a try with some domains names that are for future projects. I guess all we can do now is wait and hope they will fix the problem soon. :(

After about a week, Stargate got around to answer our support ticket and they said that when we registered our domain names, because the information (address) we put in was different from what we had put in when we created the account, they randomly created an account for our new domain names (even though we gave them our account login and password). So we had the new account information sent to us by email and have now moved all domain in our main account.

As you say; when you purchase the domain, if the contact information you provide isn't the same as the contact information in your account, the system randomly generates a username and password. Then you have to use their password recovery system which will send an email to the administrative contact.
But, yes; confusing until you know.

I had the same problems however even though I selected to have the password sent to me, their system wouldn't. I finally was talking with someone over the phone at Stargate and they tried e-mailing me and it wouldn't go through. While on the phone I tested my e-mail with another account and it worked fine. So if they're system is not working (which it seems to have been doing lately) then you have to wait to talk to them on the phone. To me, it's not worth the hassle.

I recently was considering using Stargate but decided to go with NameCheap.com instead after reading many of the comments here. I had all my domains with DirectNIC and really liked their interface but I just had to save a little money ($8.88 vs. $15). So far I transfered 15 domains to NameCheap and everything has gone well so far.
