I was originally hosted by TechnoHosts but as some of you may know they went out of business. And the $130 I paid for them to host my site is gone. I don't want anything like this to happen to me again. I posted a request in the requests forum and I liked the response I got. I want a hosting company that will be up most of the time with very little down time. I also want a reputable one that will not steal my money. Does anyone know anything about these companies, I'm considering signing up with one of them...

Dominet.net (http://www.dominet.net/)

If you use a credit card to buy a product or service from company Y, and company Y goes out of business before delivering this, you are entitled to do a chargeback and get all (or most of) your money back.

I would really recommend contacting your bank about this. At the very least, you should be able to get anything over $50 back.

Good luck. :)

I don't know anything about those outfits, but I would recommend taking a look at Linkstream. They're at www.linkstream.net . I've had really good luck with them. I wasn't ripped off for any money before, but I did switch to Linkstream from a place where my site was down all of the time. I was antsy because I didn't want to get into the same situation again. No worries after signing up there. It's all been good.

If you want, you can email me for more or just go and take a look.

(and no- I don't work for them!!)

The best thing you can do is to go with a host that lots of people know and respect.

Don't let price be your primary consideration. If you do, you could be putting your site in uncertain hands. Generally, you get what you pay for. Go with a company that has established a reputation.

Do a search for each of these using the search feature on this board. But also spend some time browsing the board. See what hosts have been around for a long time. See what people have to say about them. Pay attention when someone's had an account at one host for years, and are still happy.

Yes, try to contact your credit card company for a chargeback.
