View Full Version : Still Looking For Host

I continue my quest for a reliable and affordable hosting solution. I can not host with anything but NT. My company and I develop applications with ASP.

DataPeer continues to impress me, but their response time has been questionable. If you can't call or e-mail when I am interested in hosting with you can I really rely on you to host my site?

ADEHost looks promising, but I wonder about them some. I am curious how good their control panel is, and if they sit on a major backbone or not.

Gearhost seems to get rave reviews, but can you trust all the newbies posting?

Brinkster looks good, but I don't get a real good feel for them overall.

Here are my requirements:
1) Cost < $25 a month
2) ASP, .Net (Now or in the Future)
3) MS Access
4) Subdomains
5) 25+ E-mail accounts
6) PHP Would be nice
7) Control Panel
8) Reseller (I plan to bring a lot of sites to this company)
9) Control Panel

Some components would be nice but not required. (ASPMail, BrowserHawk, Etc.)

I am open to suggestions and all feedback. I continue to search this forum and others. I don't exactly trust the Hosting Directories out there. They all seem to whore themselves out.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dennis

Does it not tell you something, so many hosts...so little NT. Guess you are going to have to try someone and see how it works out. Another couple I mention in addition to gearhost:

sitebysize.com
rackmy.com (dedicated)
superbinternet.com
aspcodehosting.com

It definetly seems hard to find quality so far. And all the replies I get from hosting companies never really address my needs and questions.

Thanks for the additional hosts to investigate!

Aren't there webhost that offer ASP on Linux? I think I came across 2-3 of them. They also offered Access DBs as far as I can remember.
Any comments on this?

I have heard of to many problems with it. I know MediaTemple and others have components installed to run ASP on a Linux box. With all the developing we do it just doesn't make sense for us to do that. Especially with the new .Net stuff we have been working on. NT is what we really need.

For a good ASP and Access database hosting, I'd highly recommend http://www.winsave.com I transferred my website to these folks last December, they have been great. Uptime almost 99.99%. Simple and easy use control panel. Also, it's an affordable NT hosting, at around $9 bucks per month. I don't believe you could find many NT hosting under $10 bucks.

I went to their website yesterday, apparently they are offering a free setup for a limited time only. You will save at least $35 bucks for the setup fee.

I had an account with Brinkster once ( many years ago, when they were called ewebcity.com ) and at that time price was unbeatable, you even had a SQL Server for just over 10 bucks I think.

I was pleased with them I think ( little hard to remember, which I guiess is a good sign - you often remember bad hosts very well ) but they sure have good ASP developers knowledge.

On the other hand, I guess the company could be totally different now.

you may want to check out www.getwhp.com

They may be in your price range and have what you are looking for. But eh I'm Linux person.

Good luck
