What is the best method of credit-card-enabling my site, bearing in mind i'm in the UK?
I have heard about 2Checkout and HostCharge, but it looks like you must have a US bank account.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Since our service is being mentioned here, I'd like to clarify this:
- We do not require you to have a US bank account. If you're in the UK then you can use your UK based account. Provided it can accept remittances in US dollars. Most banks support currency conversion, that means, if you have a GBP account then your bank may be able to convert incomming USD funds into GBP. Ask your bank about this.
If you have further questions about our service please feel free to email me directly.
Best regards,
Asher.

I've gone with Revecom and all seems well so far... was set up in half an hour... can charge in ££, and they'll pay me in ££ as well.... all seems too good to be true... all for a 1 off payment of $49!

We use Revecom on our site and we have to say we are very pleased with the service. Initially technical support was slow but now they seem to have resolved all the delays and I usually get a reply from them within minutes. :D
We are also in the UK and we looked around at many different payment solutions but Revecom is the best by far.

You also don't need a US bank account to use 2checkout.
I beleive you've already discovered the three most affordable 3rd party solutions available at the moment - 2checkout, revecom and hostcharge... Now do some math and prepare the $49! ;)

I was looking at Revecom also. I have a few questions for you guys who have signed up with them.
Do you simply signup on there site and you can charge in pounds sterling (GB) straight away without any other setup fee or having to email them or whatever.
or
How do you go about billing in pounds sterling after you have signed up?
Also can they send you a check each month? or do they wire it? or do they provide both options?
Thanks.

Hi.
Basically once you sign up to Revecom just send a support ticket asking for your account to be converted to GBP and they shall change it for you.
You will have to pay the $49.00 setup fee first then do the above.
You may either receive a cheque in GBP (I believe they have recently increased the payout frequency from once a month to once a fortnight) or via wire transfer but I believe there is like a $30 charge for this.
Hope this information helps.
