I setup a new account, exactly the same as other accounts an I get this error when I try to send email to them.
The users setup for this account have an email (sheila@myname.com) and this is forwarded to another email address.

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<shiela@myname.com>
(reason: system config error)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 5.3.5 www.myname.com. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 5.3.5 <shiela@myname.com>... Local configuration error
Reporting-MTA: dns; ns.myraqserver.com
Received-From-MTA: DNS; smtp3.itas.net

Don't know why this is happening? Should I delete the account and start from scratch or is there something I am missing?

Did you check the Email Server Parameters in the Control Panel and make sure it is listed there? I can think of a couple of things it could be.

Under site settings I have:

HOST NAME: www
DOMAIN NAME: myname.com
WEB SERVER ALIASES: myname.com,www.myname.com
EMAIL SERVER ALIASES: myname.com

under my DNS I have

myname.com ---> mail is sent to the High priority mail server ---> www.myname.com

Hope this can help...

Hey, you're right... it isn't listed under the email server parameters.... doesn't it automatically go there when you setup an account?

I've added it manually. This should probably work.

sometimes it won't automatically add it. After you add it, double check to make sure it "stuck" in there. If you are still having problems, you can email me directly at admin@ibizdeisgns.com or support@digitalrax.com

Thanks for your help...

I just double checked and the domain name stuck in the email parameters. I thought I was going crazy for a few minutes.

Thanks,

I had the same problem before and couldn't get the name to "stick". Found out I had to save it twice and the root of the problem was that I originally did the email server alias wrong.

I'm used to raq 3's now i bought a raq4 and am i bit puzzled ovr this :

WEB SERVER ALIASES: myname.com,www.myname.com
EMAIL SERVER ALIASES: myname.com

under my DNS I have

myname.com ---> mail is sent to the High priority mail server ---> www.myname.com

Whats with these aliasses ? is this THE way you should fill it in to work ?
and for the DNS part, will

"mail is sent to high priority mail sever---> myname.com"

work in these settings ?

I would like to point out that catch-alls only seem to work for me if the dns is set up
www.domain.com -> www.domain.com
for the MX record(or whatever you use instead of www for subdomains) and if www.domain.com is NOT in the e-mail aliases box.

Just throwing it out here.
