View Full Version : where to register my domain names?
(SH)Saeed 12-06-2000, 10:54 AM Hi all,
I have a few domains with NetworkSolution.com and a couple with Dotster.com. The good thing about dotster is they charge only $15/year. The bad thing about them is the support. I have emailed them twice in the last couple of months asking about if I can possibly change my account name or if I can create a new account and move my current domains under there. Still no response.
My question is: Where is it best to register my domain names?
Thank you,
Saeed
-Edward- 12-06-2000, 11:06 AM Well best place i've found is a uk company called netweaver (http://www.netweaver.com/home/). The support there is fantastic. I've had all emails answered in under an hour even after they close at 5:30pm. I was swapping emails with them at 9:30pm (gmt) each was answered in a friendly manner and some where answered in minutes. The domain control panel is amazing as well.
i have used bulkregister for several months and i feel thaty have a pretty good system. they offer you tools to do basically anything and the price is less then 10.00 per domain per year. it only costs 80.00 to get started with them.
support is mediocre, but you should not really need any since everything is basically web based.
my 2 cents :)
eva2000 12-06-2000, 12:00 PM well i always use 000domains.com now and moved all my NSI domains to 000domains.com as well
(SH)Saeed 12-06-2000, 02:31 PM any other site thst offers a good price with good support and control panel?

Chicken 12-06-2000, 07:23 PM Saeed, if you choose an OpenSRS registrar (000domains or weblaunching.net, redirection.net, etc.), then you will have access to the same CP. Personally, I think it is one of the easiest to manage. You can modify owner/anycontact info, create nameservers, etc, all with just a few clicks. I think you'll like this.
mattan 12-06-2000, 08:59 PM ..they are part of register.com
I have 5 domains with them, initially they did not offer a control panel. But now with the control panel, you do most of the stuff you need to.i.e like changing nameservers, etc
And the prices a re USD$10. Support aint that bad too, a respond normally within 48 hours
good luck
MadMax82 12-06-2000, 09:25 PM Enom also has a control panel and good prices, service, etc. The transfer process does require a fax though so in that sense OpenSRS is slightly easier. Just my 2 cents...
(SH)Saeed 12-07-2000, 04:18 AM Chicken,
Which one of those 3 OpenSRS ones is more reliable? Do you have any experience with any of them? Does this mean they wont even require an email confirmation?
Thanks,
Saeed
Duster 12-07-2000, 10:30 AM Having had occasion to as a couple of questions (at different times),I can attest that the service at 000domains.com is speedy. I had an answer within 20 minutes the first time, and 30 minutes the second.
Using the Domain Manager, you can change anything in a matter of moments, with none of those pesky email forms like at NSI (or their pesky charges either).
I would never use alldns.com again and recommend against them. I have one domain remaining with them and will pay their $25 fee just to be rid of them (unless I find a way around it)
Chicken 12-07-2000, 11:03 AM I don't think you can really go wrong with almost *any* OpenSRS registrar as they use the same interface and no matter which one you pick, you can always use the opensrs one itself as well (kinda a nice backup in case the individual site is down, located at: http://manage.opensrs.net ). In fact, you can use 000domains' interface to control domains you registered at weblaunching.net and vice versa.
My only experience is with weblaunching.net (price beats 000domains by a bit more than a buck, and support questions were answered quickly). If you need redirection services though, you might wish to take care of everything at redirection.net and save yourself the added steps. All three of these specific ones have gotten raves from what I've read.
