Just letting everyone know the problems i have been having with submit wolf..

As a Web design and hosting firm i thought it would be in our best interest to buy a product that can submit our customers site to the search engines alittle faster than the traditional methods.

I bought ( Yes from a SHOP) a copy of Subit Wolf, which also had free updates of the server and countless other useless stuff.

After i installed it and used it on 17 sites, i noticed that it still was only sending the sites to 6 or 7 of the top site, and the rest of the engines or lists were not highlighted at all ( could not use them).

My copy was registered i submited my email and my serial /barcode to the submitwolf server and all and it was fully working, As soon as i shut down the proggie and re opened it at a later stage it tried to update it self, again and again and it would not even register me on there server to work. at all...

I sent an email to sumbit wolf support and they replied that there server is to busy, to accept anymore customers and so on. I tried for another 3 weeks to get the program running and working.

After the three weeks of trying it just went into demo mode :bawling:

Just warning everyone ! I cant believe a company that sells so many copies of there software dont have the server cabability to support its clients, someone from WHT should offer them a deal !

I've heard this before. And I understand that even when you have been able to get the thing fully registered its results are not all that impressive.

We are considering AddWeb Pro, because I used an early version of it few years ago and it seemed good enough then. I am going to ask around before purchasing anything, mind you, because far too many of these programs make such wild claims yet deliver such poor results.

In my opinion, you'd better serve your hosting clients by advising them against automated submission in the first place:

1. Submission of any kind to Google is meaningless and unnecessary.

2. You can't automatically submit to AltaVista because of the "ransom note" submission code implementation. (Of course, they don't regularly add nonpaid submissions to the database anyway!)

3. Attempts at free submission to Inktomi through partner sites are an exercise in futility.

4. Automated submission to Yahoo would be pretty foolish.

5. Same for dmoz.

6. FAST/AllTheWeb will find your site through spidering, just like Google will.

7. Automated submission encourages re-submission, and re-submission not handled properly is never good.

8. Automated submission encourages the submission of multiple pages from the same site, which some search engines consider to be spamming. Will your submission software advise you correctly?

9. Automated submission encourages a "get it done quickly" approach, thereby encouraging submission of an incompletely or inadequately optimized site.

10. Automated submission will be quick and effective at adding your clients' sites to hundreds or thousands of FFA sites and link farms. As long as that's what you mean when you say "effective."

Reputable search engine consulting firms have by and large abandoned automated submission except in specific cases. That's not because we don't like taking the easy way out when it's appropriate, it's because such submission is these days rarely appropriate.

If you insist, though, you might check out TopDog instead of SubmitWolf.

I have AddWeb Platinum and it is very good. It can submit all your websites at the same time very quickly and then email reports to the site owners if you want it to.

Whether this or any other product actually "works" is another matter, with search engines now charging huge money to even look at your site. Even if you do nothing the search engine spiders will find you sooner or later.

We have a user on the forum from Submit Wolf I believe (another user had a problem and they popped in). Search the forum for the term and you might be able to find them, and contact that person directly.

All these submit programs dump your site on FFA engines....thats the last place you want your web site listed as you will loose rank on top search engines and directories because of that.

Stick to the ol fashion submit way....manual submission.

What are FFA Engines?
Been also thinking about Submit Wolf...

Any other recommendations for automated submission tools to search engines?

FFA= 1000000000 spam emails a day in your mailbox. Stay away from them.

thanks for that explanation....

so, is there actually now some great search engine submission tool
without being added to those FAAs?

Submit Wolf is poor. I bought it about 6 months ago and submitted my old site, not realising that I was about to be added to about 100 so-called "opt-in" email services. Any submission program is a waste of money, full stop.

My company has practically tried and analyzed all the large submission software outside and the conclusion? 90% of those submission softwares out there do not work.

There was particulaly one well know submission software that we tested which was quite hillarious. We disconnected the workstation from the internet and was still able to run the submission software. I mean, on our monitor, it shows "successfuly" for each engine it was running though even though it wasnt even connected to the net. Very strange indeed.

Some of the websites with submission services do work though.
But I would say those downloadable software which makes you pay $50-200 dont work.....

Dont waste your money there. Save it up and pay Yahoo or some Inktomi based search engine to get your web listing up.
