In the search of UK colocation provider I found QiX. Should be not a small company, saw their add in a magazine. However, can't find them on this forum. Now, look at this misleading page:

http://www.qix.co.uk/colo/prices.html

Unmetered Co-Lo Services
Ethernet Port 10Mbps 30GB monthly bandwidth £50
Per additional 30GB monthly total £free

Is it 10 Mbps unmetered? Or is it 30 GB (100 Kbps)? Or is it 60 GB?

Totally confused. It is 8.40pm in UK now, so I can't get an answer from them until tomorrow morning. Maybe you know?

Their ethernet port is 10MBit / sec and their data transfer allowance is 30GB / month...

Then the confusing bit...for each extra 30GB data transfer you request...its free?? eh?!

Cheers,

It seems to me that what they are saying is that at any one point in time your connection will allow up to 10Mb/s of data transfer if demanded, with a maximum of a total of 30Gb p/m on that tariff.

Too good to be true.

LOL, I thought that 30 gig free thing is strange too. Another thingI tried looking for (well I spent a few minutes on the site), but couldn't find where their data centre is located in the UK?

I've just had a proper look at that page and I have to say it makes no sense at all! It does appear to say that you get each additional 30Gb "block" free though!

Let's all sign up! :D

Oh, and apparently they're in Telehouse, London.

LOL funnily enough i just rang them got the same lady and the same answer about the techs on the road, but then one rang back, he said that you can burst to the 10mbit and that if you go over the 30gb it is yes free, although he said if your constantly bursting at 8mbit it wont work, but they have very fast connections to the backbone. Interesting

Yes, they called me back as well (it was fast).

To add to your information they suggested that:
- currently 24 servers share 100 Mbit connection, but this will go up to 48 servers soon
- basically, you transfer as much as you can within 10 Mbit limitation, but they only guarantee 30 GB a month
- there is no month-to-month contract, you can pay £100 to try them out and leave

Sounds like a good deal for me, for UK of course
