microsol 02-18-2002, 03:59 PM I am monitoring their connection since 24 hours from Europe and it looks like you posted below. :(
But other than that it's REALLY fast.

I'm also confused.
There is no such IP as 66.28.178.*.
Are you hiding the IP of your server? why?
I know that their connection is fine since we are monitoring it 24/7.
Yes .. I was hiding my IP .. and asking about hte prob ..
but I'm sorry I found that I was wrong ... I should put the IP totally.
here you are. 66.28.178.10

This doesn't look too healthy to me so I suggest you take a look at your server.
As you said .. it's not healthy at all ..
D:\>tracert 66.28.178.10
Tracing route to 66.28.178.10 over a maximum of 30 hops

That's why I'm asking about the network status.
Still not solved.
Thanks.
energy 02-18-2002, 05:34 PM You are probably using the wrong gateway.
You need to use 66.28.178.1.
If you need help changing it, post your ICQ or AIM contact info and I'll msg you.
So you think the problem is only with my server ....
I wish it's correct ... just conferm.
good luck,
HYM
But with a wrong gate way ... shouldnot have any responce from the server ... but the responce veries between 25% lose and 100% :(

Yes.
Look at the traceroute:
6 66.28.178.1 (66.28.178.1) 24.255
7 66.28.178.10 (66.28.178.10) 1572.208 ms
change the gateway and see if it works better.
Gernot 02-18-2002, 06:03 PM Hmm it would probably help if you did a traceroute from your server to some remote server. So, could you login to your server and type something like tracert 321host-it.com and post the results?
Thanks,
Gernot
I just got the server .... and the technical Dept ..cannot use it. and I cannot login even ... so it's as seted up.
what do U think ?

call lightone.
Iremember I did it 17 hours ago ... :)
panopticon 02-18-2002, 06:31 PM You called lightone 17 hours ago and still don't have a response???
I would be calling every hour until it was working!
Don't think i'm not tring my best ..
but ignoring the e-mails .. can tells that there is a prob.
Can any one see lightone online now .... I don't.
microsol 02-18-2002, 07:36 PM He's not online. Nobody is taking the phone. Mailbox full. One of our servers got delivered this morning (10 hours ago) and nobody is reachable. ( I know because somebody signed for it).
But, the network is up and running fine.
is lightone a trusted company or what ...
I'm still asking
microsol 02-18-2002, 07:53 PM Woahh, can't believe it, but i actually got Chris on the phone right now. Hope he's contacting me shortly as promised.
If U can tell him to go online on MSN messenger... I'll be thankfull ...
It's better to me since I'm not in USA.
Thanks & good luck
StarGate 02-18-2002, 09:33 PM Well, Chris IS a little overloaded right now... remember: his company JUST moved to a bigger DataCenter. That is not to be taken lightly nor is it something that is done in one day ;)
As to phone charges cause outside USA, I know the problem. But there is a solution. If you have MSN messenger go ACTIONS/MAKE PHONECALL and signup with a provider. I use CALLSERVE.
I speak with Chris multiple hours on a weekly basis due to our cooperation and it only costs me 3 Euros per hour. They even send you a high quality headset (needed!) and have VERY good quality.
The problem is that we R dealing with a real-time busness.
Representing my orginizationon this site makes me fight them to get our right.
We R still in the starting .... what can be better than starting
I understand what you just said .... but do you understand my satuation.. I believe is that behind lightone is a good job ... but I just should ask for this job to be shown. I think it's my right as a cutomer. I need someone t listen to my problem... I think U can understand my case ... so .. U know what should be done ..
Thank You very mush.. Please say Hi to Chris ..
Good luck
There is nothing with lightone network .... It's the internal setting of the server..
Today I talked to Mr Chris. - that frindly man - he promised they will solve my problem shortly.
I realy suport lightone.net ... they will help once they know the problem. Smart busness.
I still support lightone.net
but I also need your support.. :)
My problems R not solved yet. What do U think ShareFile ?
Just look @ the date of the thread and add 17 hours ... you'll get the problems starting time.
Wolfy 02-20-2002, 10:37 AM hym, others here have indicated it is most likely a problem with your server. You mentioned you spoke to Chris and he said he would fix it for you. What was his solution, or at least his diagnostics of your problem?
While forums like WHT are an invaluable resource - this sounds to me like it is a problem that you should be solving with your host.
I notice there is an 8 hour gap between when you mentioned you spoke to Chris and when you've posted again and are still having the same problem. I really suggest you call Chris again, and find out what the problem is, and how to fix it. I can see no reason why your server should be down for so long.
microsol 02-21-2002, 09:49 AM Before we sent the server to them we got promised that the server will be setup the same day. It arrived on Monday and after calling yesterday he said sorry and it will be setup (yesterday). Today is Thursday and it's still not setup. Unfortunately we sent another server this morning and it will arrive tomorrow.
Nobody is reachable there. Not by phone, not by ICQ, nothing
NO SERVER SETUP NO CONTACT
If both servers are not setup by tomorrow we'll move them out and to a competitor of them! $6000 worth in servers (both) and we just can't do anything with them (ok, it's only one right now but I am convinced tomorrow it will be two servers offline).
I AM BLOODY
microsol 02-21-2002, 11:20 AM BTW: Thanks to all these people who warned me before. You where right. I think i should learn to listen. :bawling: :bawling:
microsol 02-22-2002, 08:50 AM I can't believe that the server is up. After 5 days!
Now. It's still not configured as agreed and IP's are still missing.
But what's that?:

Swap space is usually automatically configured for twice the amount of RAM you have in a server. If you have 1 Gig of RAM, your swap space will be set to 2 Gigs.
Although, I thought you had indicated that you sent lightone a server? If this is a colocated box, would you not have seen that during your initial install of the OS (or did I misread the thread)?
About me ...
My problem is solved ....
thanks chris ... but I was not notified ... :cartman:
When I tried... every thing worke fine...;)
Thx

This box has 2gigs of RAM (upgradable to 4). If i understand it right what you say RH should have configured itself with 4gigs of swap according to the RAM? This is crazy, who would run a box which need that much swap? It would take "weeks" until a site loads if all the swap would be used. :D
We sent him a box which we just bought and asked him to install the OS.
We actually sent a second box but fortunately we where lucky to be able to cancel the shipment just a few minutes before it was sheduled to be picked up!
So, the other server went to another NOC.
We'll see how it goes there, but until now no complaints whatsoever.
