Im pondering over using one will it go against me? pergesu 01-16-2005, 04:45 AM A lot of people will advise against using templates, they say that it makes you the same as everybody else that uses one. I'll be honest, I've been using the internet way too much for the past 10 years, and I've never once come across a site that I thought looked like another one. I'm sure I've seen plenty with the same templates, but I've never thought, "I've seen a site with this exact design before." And if I know a site comes from templates, I don't care. If it's got the content I need, I stay, if it doesn't, I go. Templates are beneficial if you can't come up with a design on your own, or can't afford to have somebody else do it for you. james106 01-16-2005, 04:48 AM thanks i think ill try one i can always try deigning the site later dawhb 01-16-2005, 08:28 AM Well. Template market is very important because it gives more options to people who enter on the market. They can by professional template for less than $100 instead of pending thousands of dollars in web design. But if you want to have a prestigeous online business you definetely nee customized web site solution. We see sites on WHT all the time that are exact copies of others - we call them rips. Obviously with non-unique templates, this isn't ripping, but the red flag is still raised. What makes a site built with a non-unique template unique from its counterparts is the types of functionality built in, how the information flows, adjustments made to the physical characteristics of the template, whether/how its code gets reengineered (an important task most template buyers do not consider) and what you do with your template to brand it as your own. When it's all said and done, your development efforts should rival those of most completely custom-built sites anyway. So, why buy the template you ask? So that the visual design portion is done for you. Now, you just need to handle the other 90% of the site and you'll be good to go. When I see a non-unique template site and it's obvious the additional effort that needs to take place has been neglected, I immediately leave the site. There are too many scammers out there erecting $50 sites for me to bother trying to sort between them. |
