View Full Version : Domain Reselling?
slypete 01-15-2005, 09:27 PM I'm starting a free hosting service and I would like to try and profit a little from domain registrations instead of just sending them to Go Daddy or something like that. I'm just kind of confused how to set something like this up. What is eNom API? Is this something that can help me? Also, if anyone knows the costs to setting up something like this, is it per domain? charges per month?
Jason.NXH 01-16-2005, 01:43 AM With eNom, you must prepay an amount when you first start, and this will amount is by the plan you choose depending on the price per domain you want. Later, you must prepay at least $100 into your account once you have used your current credit.
Wild West Domains requires you to pay a yearly fee, and then you must buy the domains yourself, using your own pricing.
Sorry, but I'm not sure about Go Daddy, haven't checked it out yet.
DecentHost 01-16-2005, 03:13 AM If you get a reseller account from an Enom's ETP reseller, it's free. You only need to deposit at least $100 if you pay by Paypal or Credit card. And there's no minumum if you deposit by check.
hostjet 01-16-2005, 03:15 AM I have been an enom reseller for several years.
Information on their reseller program can be found here.
http://www.enom.com/resellers/
Basically to become a reseller you had to sign up for a regular account and then send them an email requesting information to become a reseller. They have different pricing depending on the amount of your initial deposit into your account, the usual lowest price being around US$6.95
Then after your initial deposit, if you use their API or registryrocket system you dont pay ongoing costs, but the registrar PDQ system costs around US$99 per year.
If you use the enom automated system and their credit card processing system, the charges are "The fee for merchant services is 95 cents ($0.95) plus 3% of the transaction"
othellotech 01-19-2005, 06:43 PM what hostjet said :D
If all you're looking to do is make some proft from the domains rather than sending the clients elsewhere then either an affiliate scheme or enom registry rocket service woudl suit you.
With an affiliate scheme, you provide the link, if the client buys through that link you earn a commission. More advanced versions let you host the lookup scripts, but pass the traffic on at the "i want to buy" stage.
With something like registry-rocket, it's essentially a wrapper around the enom system - again you send them to your "domain reg site link" provided by enom, and gain the difference between they buy-price (what you get them from enom for) and the sell-price (what you've specified to enom to sell them for) less the c/card handling fee+95c
So if you buy @ 8.95, and set a sell price of $18.95 you get
18.95-3%-95c-8.95 = 8.50 in your commission account to withdraw 90 days later
Becomming a full reseller of domains, the associated support, dns changes, management etc can be a big step, software like DRAMS can make it easier, but there's still the admin etc to look after
slypete 01-20-2005, 12:52 AM Can someone tell me if this is an example of an Enom API? I would like to set something up like this, where they can leave my main site and go to a branded domain registration site. Thanks!
othellotech 01-20-2005, 05:37 AM if *what* is using the enom api ? ;)
slypete 01-20-2005, 10:53 AM haha woops, https://www.securepaynet.net/gdshop/rhp/default.asp?se=%2B&prog%5Fid=sagonet&pl%5Fid=116836

CrazyStix 01-20-2005, 09:23 PM You can always sign up with Modernbill and they have free reseller acount with Enom and the api integrated.
gghosting 01-23-2005, 01:30 PM You could get a free domain reseller account with Directi.com. I think they are better then eNom because they don't have a min. deposit fee when using PayPal.
Rain Maker 02-14-2005, 02:23 AM If I want to register a Enom account to manage my own domains only, what should I do?
Should I get PDQ?
How do I know what price to set for myself to pay?
othellotech 02-14-2005, 06:43 AM No you dont need PDQ.
If all you are doing is managing yor own domains, then you need simply to decide between a retail account (pay each time you register/renew by credit card) or a reseller account (access to the api for automation, refill/deposit into the account and spend from there).
I'd recommend the reseller account for ease of use et, but you have to be prepare to "fund" it with $100 towards your domain regs'/renews/transfers (less bt check, but most fund with paypal and credit-cards)
