We have been discussing which 3rd party credit card processor
is good, and which is bad…and bla..bla..

I think it is time now for us to have a poll for a review to see who is the most popular processor?

I have come out below popular processors, I need 5 more,
can you suggest them? Thank you in advance!

All processors listed below are in numerical and alphabetical order:
(1) 2CO
(2) Ccavenue
(3) Ccnow
(4) Ikobo
(5) Moneybookers
(6) Paypal
(7) Payzipmerchant
(8) Stormpay
(9) Worldpay
(10) YowCow
(11) ……?
(12)….?
(13)……?
(14)…..?
(15)….?

Overman,

A poll will be created when I gather another 5 more processors,
then you can submit your vote.

Cavalry, I think you are trying to kill me! LOL

You might include ccBill since it seems some mainstream merchants use them as well. And maybe even nochex and paymate as well. (Would be intersting to see how paymate is fairing since paypal is now using Australian money.) And maybe even multicards.

Overman

I am sorry about that. So, I would suggest ProPay.com, Ibill.com, InternetSecure.com and MultiCards.com for your poll.

Corey Bryant

Well I do doubt anyone is using ibill. I actually checked their site this morning & it was down. They failed to show up at the Internext Show last week. And they do owe thousands of dollars to merchants right now

Overman
01-15-2005, 11:46 AM
I don't know about their financial situation at the moment. But, their history is good. IBill averaged 1.2 million transactions a month and completed about $330 million in gross transactions in 2003. This is from Bizjournals.

I know IBill as the payment system for adult sites, generally.

Unfortunately that was a long time ago. A few months back, First Data gave them ample time to locate another processor. Instead of trying to find another processor, they decided to sue First Data: iBill Asks Court To Force Bank Transition Help (http://www.avn.com/index.php?Primary_Navigation=Articles&Action=View_Article&Content_ID=192798) (adult content)

Instead of spending minutes/hours/days/weeks to find out the "best" 3PP, why don't you just get a merchant account? If you plan on your business being successfull you will need to have one in the future anyways. With all the problems of 3PP going around these days, its hard to even think about going that route.

For 3PP, my vote would be WorldPay, they have been consistently excellent, the only problems I have experienced have been technical ones (e.g. distributed denial of service attack they experienced a few months ago). They offer what I call "sponsored merchant accounts" , your company name appears on the statement, you can do things like partial refunds etc, but since they are absorbing a lot of the risk you can't access the credit card numbers and you have to use their gateway. They are owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, one of the biggest UK companies, who's group of companies also include Natwest.

They charge iirc 4.5%, I know people will jump on here and say we only pay 2.5% or something, but nearly all US merchants accounts have a gateway transaction and a merchant transaction fee, based on the rates of the 3 "recommended" US merchant brokers on here WorldPay works out cheaper on a typical monthly hosting charge of under $10.

Beware though, after the flood of refugees from Paysystems (*goes to vomit*) they have insisted on heavy deposits or over delayed settlements.

Having said that, if you can go with a real merchant account, and the pricing is better or at the same level you might as do so now and avoid the migration headaches. We are moving to a HSBC merchant account shortly.

Richard,

And that is why we can see the market demand for Nissa Sentra.

rbayless ,because mainly third party processors are the best solution for offshore small business .
If your not eligible for a cheap us merchant account or cheap uk merchant account ,3rd party is best choice right now .
5% is all you pay (average ) , while international /offshore merchant will cost you more bucks monthly depending on your region , Having a merchant account is the best solution always , but for those who cant have it - they have this !

And that is why we can see the market demand for Nissa Sentra.

But I totally agree with you!

Unless you are an international merchant in its growing stages, then it sounds like you missed one step in your business development stage: business model.

Sure 3PP offers you "decent" rates and less monthly fees than a merchant account, but you are missing out. A merchant account offers more flexibility plus more. You don't have to worry about your processor staying in business tomorrow. You don't have to worry about your processor taking your money and running which seems like the 3PP business model these days..lol.

Of course you know your business isn't going to be "booming" from the get go, thus you are going to have to put an initial investment in it and plan on expenses that may not be covered by incoming revenue. For US merchants, large or small, this should be just the cost of doing business.

Call me critical..hehe

Richard,

I totally agree with you without reservations.
I think your statemeant is good for merchants from the US or Europe. But I am not from the US.

Our country merchant providers require USD 13,000.00 as security deposit, and the monthly minimum transactions have to be USD 5,200.00, and they do not use US currency.

Thanks for your advice! Beer time now...

kagi is loosing popularity , pswbilling is now having more adult content websites and not popular for ecommerce websites .
Propay as i see you already listed it although its a US/CA service only . Paymate is an AU service only , etc but they are still popular there and have more advantages than kagi and pswbilling.

(4) Ccnow < worldwide tangible only

(6) Ikobo < ALMOST worldwide with fax confirmation

(8) Multicards <worldwide + setup fees ( varies )

Why don't we just work out on processors can accept international accounts?

I think Nochex, Paymate, Propay are out....

So we need 3 more...

Lebanon
01-15-2005, 02:50 PM
no , if ur gonna remove it then u should remove paymate and nochex as well they are also country specific , considering how many merchants are from US/CA/UK/AU those for countries specific processors can join the 3rd party preffered poll i think.
Unless you are intending to change the whole list to worldwide and almost worldwide 3rd parties that leaves u off with less than 10 names list !

Lebanon
01-15-2005, 02:56 PM
then include merchantboss no setup fees + worldwide
swreg , share it ,regnow,v-share | almost the four companies are same system of selling one sale item or softwares and they are worldwide free setup and charge u 10% .
digibuy - digitalriver Worldwide with setup fees and used by famous companies such as Norton.

In addition, I read some negative feedback about these providers, but I just read a lot of negative feedback about worlpay too. Personal rating is probably bed idea, please ignore it.

IHSL,

Quite a shock to hear about Worldpay owes you money
since last year! And sorry to hear about that.

All processors are listed on numerical and alphabetical order.
2CO listed on top does not mean 2CO is the best; it is because 2CO got a 2 infront of their company name.

Hope you can get your money back soon from Worldpay.

dont you think 2co must provide a Visa card feature like users can withdraw funds on any ATM machine.

Worldpay are NOT 3pp,they are full Merchant accounts.
If that is the case then I insist on Barclays EPDQ being entered, as they are the best in the whole WORLD!

Worldpay are 3pp with "world direct" service (click on for small business)
As far as I know Barclays EPDQ is for UK only.

Amos,

I think Worldpay offers both 3rd party and Merchant account services. I am positive Worldpay provides 3rd party processor service.

I was thinking about Barclay, http://www.epdq.co.uk/
but I think they offer Merchant account only. Right? Amos?

Maybe in other countries Worldpay offer 3rd party, but in the UK at least the cheapest thing you can get includes a internet merchant account.

Worldpay does offer 3rd party credit card payment processing
service in some countries, especially in developing countries.

And their fees are slightly different in different countries.

as a matter of fact, we did.

it was not utilized very much, and with the advent of us being able to send bank wires in 12 different currencies for aprox. $10.00 each, the interest/ utilization waned.

in addition to that, due to Patriot Act provisions, the underwriter chose to discontinue the service last summer/ fall.

childish as usual amos
I have no interest in skewing any vote.

I know how popular 2CO is by the 60+ new signups per day, and by the daily $$ volume processed.

Cavalry,
I knew 100% that you were nothing to do with 2CO, that was just my dry sense of humour,we British are like that!!
Even though TomD likes to call me names,I can also confirm that I was again only joking about 2CO staff affecting the results.

I am sure that the forum moderators could see this rag pulling,so it must be for another reason.

What would happen if I started a new poll using the same list you had in this topic? It seemed like a really good idea and I'd be very interested to see the poll results. Of course, I won't if it means the topic and/or I gets banned...

I'm kind of late to this discussion, but am wondering if Payko could be considered a processor?

They send money orders that are processed through Paypal.

There is also Bidpay which is now owned by Western Union that accepts credit cards to send money orders and accepts most credit cards. Are they considered a processor?

First time for me to hear about these two, but sure we must consider trying. Anybody did a try?

I have used both Payko and Bidpay several times (Bidpay-before and after it was taken over by Western Union).

They both have always sent the money orders the day the credit transaction is approved. I've never had a bad experience with either of them.

They notify the seller that the purchaser has requested a money order to be sent to them, along with the info given for what the purchase is for, auction number (if eBay, etc), purchasers name, address, email, etc.

Once the transaction is approved, they notify both the buyer and seller.

Both do not charge for postage, unless you order rush shipping.

At this point anyway, the recipient of the money order is not charged any processing fees or deductions (such as a credit card transaction fee, or Paypal fees). So what you get is 100% of the billing amount.

The purchaser has to pay fees based on the amount of the money order they purchase. Both sites have different fees.

This is a cut and paste of how Payko charges:

Payko Fees
Payko service and shipping fees are listed below. All prices quoted in US Dollars. The shipping fees are the cost to ship your money order, not merchandise.

PayPal Service Fees (Maximum amount: $200 )

Money Order Amount Fee
Transaction from $0 to $25 $3.99 + 0%
Transaction from $25.01 to $100 $3.99 + 4.9%
Transaction from $100.01 to $200 $4.99 + 4.9%

Electronic Check Service Fees (Maximum amount: $300 )

Money Order Amount Fee
Transaction from $0 to $25 $3.99 + 0%
Transaction from $25.01 to $100 $3.99 + 2.25%
Transaction from $100.01 to $300 $4.99 + 2.25%

Credit Card Service Fees (Maximum amount: $200 )

Money Order Amount Fee
Transaction from $0 to $25 $3.99 + 2.99%
Transaction from $25.01 to $100 $3.99 + 2.99%
Transaction from $100.01 to $200 $3.99 + 2.99%

Shipping Fees

Shipping Option Fee
First Class Mail FREE
Regular Air Mail (International Orders) FREE
Priority Mail $6.00
Express Mail $15.00
---------------------------------------------

Bidpay has a calculator on their main page to let yo know what they would charge yo for the MO.

I just did one for an example.

I put in a money order needed $25.00
Shipping charges: 0

The results were:

Auction Item Amount:
includes shipping of auction item

$25.00

BidPay® Service Fees:

$2.95

Payment Delivery Fees - First Class Mail:
Upon approval, a money order delivered via First Class Mail will be received in approximately 3-5 business days, but may take up to 10 business days.

$0.00

TOTAL:
$27.95

---------------------------

I recommend both services for people who do not want to use Paypal and prefer money orders.
