blogmaster2003 01-14-2005, 06:50 PM Hi hello
i need a semi-dedicated server, can you give me some advice?
I donīt need root acess
I need the more bandwith they can provide
Space at least 5gb
Bandwith at least 250gb
I need cpanel with the option to transfer accounts enabled
Nice support staff :)
budget >25 <40
Off course managed server, i donīt have the knowledge and time to manage it myself.
Thanks.
PS:i already saw hostquote, but didnīt find nothing that suits me and i want your advices :)
omaha.stylee 01-14-2005, 07:21 PM so you're just looking for a reseller package with a lot of transit?
maybe that's why the hostquote didn't turn up anything for you ...
cheers
Hostivo 01-14-2005, 07:45 PM Yeah looks like you can use a large reseller package. Try talking to some companys, they may consider putting together a custom plan for your budget :).

layer0 01-14-2005, 07:48 PM You may want to raise your budget if you want something reliable.
ldcdc 01-14-2005, 08:54 PM I'll back what ZeonFx said.
blogmaster2003 01-15-2005, 12:03 AM I could raise maximum $10, it depends, off course on what they provide. I saw a great pan at tomsyer.net, but is site is Under Maintenance. Yes i know that they have some bad reviews, but i had a reseller account with them and almost 99% ok, only 1 or 2 things, small things and resolved the next day.
Does someone know and recommmend some host that offer those big plans (semi-dedicated) .
omaha.stylee 01-15-2005, 03:31 AM I dunno. for $40 you should be able to find a decent host.
that's just my two cents though ....
NexDog 01-15-2005, 10:46 AM Anyone using 250gb shouldn't be on a shared server in my opinion. You need your own server or maybe a VPS but probably more like your own server.
gilbert 01-15-2005, 12:05 PM was his budget up to 40 those greater /lessthan signs dont look like they where used properly?

Not true. It depends on what kind of traffic he's getting. We have many clients using upwards of 300 gb transfer on a shared server with absolutely no trouble. Of course, if its a message board site or something that is mySQL intensive, etc. then you would be correct.

blogmaster2003 01-15-2005, 03:21 PM I plan to host only 3 or 4 sites, that offers free hosting images.
Companyideas 01-15-2005, 03:50 PM VARhosting have a budget reseller package which is $21.95 per month and 200Gb traffic. And as a bonus you get 20Gb of storage to boot.

Dactyl 01-15-2005, 04:04 PM I would recommend that you get a VPS, which would be managed, servint has a nice offer with 200GB bandwidth for $49 http://www.servint.net/whtvps/

Yah, that's what I meant. Also download sites pulling 10gb can cause issues. We just had to move one site to a dedicated server that was pulling 30gb daily in mpeg files. Even on 100mbps on a dual proc, the pipe was choked.
ldcdc 01-16-2005, 01:40 AM We just had to move one site to a dedicated server that was pulling 30gb daily in mpeg filesThat amounts to almost 1TB monthly. Quite a figure. :)
omaha.stylee 01-16-2005, 06:44 PM free image hosting shouldn't cause a problem though.
250GB/month would probably work out to about 100K/s. I don't see that causing a problem on any shared box seeing as most of them are probably on 100Mbit pipes....
cheers!
buffhost 01-17-2005, 03:03 AM You can have a VPS for this issue.
I recommend DefenderHosting and PowerVPS.
I think DefenderHosting is better for your needs!
You can have 5GB space+200GB bandwidth+MANAGED service for $40/m.
Please check http://defenderhosting.com/vps/
Good luck,
Regards:)
