View Full Version : dsl-webhosting-solutions.com unpleasant experience

Some malicious users decided to use the name of one of my domain names to send scam and spam messages. Without any solid proof that the messages was being sent from their servers, dsl-webhosting-solutions.com is threatening to inform the FBI and suspend my account and all this being presented in a very unpleasant email - the kind of letters you get when you are being sued (as seen on TV).

I thought dsl-webhosting-solutions.com would have been smarter than that and would had trust in its customers.

Anyone can use bulk email softwares to send mass spams and define fake headers... what if i decide to use support[@]dsl-webhosting-solutions.com to send spam? Well, I was a victim of such abuse and the host is not very friendly and doesn't seem to understand that.

Now looking for a new hosting company, after expiration or getting banned - I won't be renewing.

Hello James,

The email sent to you never said we are reporting you to the FBI. Our terms of service state that spam will not be permited on our servers and we take all reports seriously.

You seem under the impression that someone got this email and contacted us about it .. This is not the case it was reported through our datacenter by SpamCops Link To Case (http://www.spamcop.net/sc?id=z712444442ze64b54e529c53bd74cd2dc992c9bbe45z) there you will find how it originated from your domain. They filter through these spam wares you are speaking of.

As stated we will continue to investigate this issue but the domain must be deleted within 24hrs.

You stated the domain was dormant if this is the case why would deleting the site be such an issue pending the results of the investigation?

We have always tried to work with you James. In the last 6 months we have been hosting your sites. Even with this incident we have not fined your account as per our TOS for spam.

We will be sorry to see you leave, but again we can not tolerate Spam on our servers. This would not only effect your accounts but all others on this server.

Any further question please contact me through support@dsl-webhosting-solutions.com

Regards,
Lee

Ok, the host has just decided to suspend my reseller account with all my customer's data since I've decided to fight back and maintain that the scam/spam emails are not being sent by me or my customer.

Does the host still seems like a friendly one? not so sure.

James,

Your account was suspended for your failure to remove the domain pending the investigation. Not for "fighting back and maintaining the spam emails did not originate from your customer". You were given 24 hours to remove the account and you were notified that failure to comply with this would result in your suspension.

We have also only suspended your main account. Not any of your clients accounts. This is to ensure that until the investigation is complete the domain is not added back to the server.

All we asked for was your cooperation pending an investigation of the account. We must take all reports of Spam seriously. By having spam reported to originate from one of your accounts and then refuseing to comply with our request to remove the account from the server you are in serious violation of our TOS.

We have been as "friendly" as we can be with your refusal of cooperation James. We have kept you informed at every step we have taken and will continue to inform you of the progress of the investigation. We hope to have this resolved very soon.

Any further questions please email me at support@dsl-webhosting-solutions.com

Regards,

Dee

Lee,

I have always tried to be as polite and friendly as possible. A user-friendly host would have guided and provided step-to-step solution to a problem. I am very busy and I don't have much time to spend solving web conflicts when the real life already looks like a battlefield. I have already told you in the previous mail asking you to do whatever you think is right, I guess the meaning of 'right' has yet to be defined.

Hello James,

This matter has been handled by several people, The guidance that was sent was to delete the site pending a full investigation to ensure no disruption in service to any users on the server. We are about done with it as of this post.

I will say this on your behalf we have found no misconduct involving the domain in question BUT we still need to take this to the datacenter before we can reinstate the domain on the server per thier policy.

Bare with me as we get this issue fixed James we are doing everything we can, shoot its 3am and im still working on it :p

Regards,
Lee

Jaeboy you have to remember, I am not sure what the case is here but if a hosts virutal ips get blocked or flagged by the likes of spamcop it can cause more than one user problems.

To me it looks like your host is doing everything by the book, if you dont like them then leave.

But to be honest they seem to be doing the right thing here.

Hardly. It looks like the client was joe-jobbed and the host is now penalizing the client.
