I am looking for a reliable, affordable web host for software downloading. It seems that it is a no-no nowadays if you say you are a shareware developer and want to distribute a 1 Mb file of compressed software. I would also like to register a domain name and am already designing the site.

I am presently with a free web hosting service which allows 100 Mb / day of data transfers, which is quite good for having 1000 downloads per month of a 300k downloadable file. However, my file has become 3 times bigger and am afraid 3 GB / month won't cut it this time.

I've read so many horrible stories about hosts... So, is any of you a shareware developer and do you know a friendly web host service, with a prompt customer service that is willing to host such a site????

In other words, key phrases are:

1) good to excellent customer service
2) 1 downloadable file of 1 Mb + a 15-20 file regular .html and .gif and .jpg files
3) Expected to have 1000-2000 downloads per month + 400 hits per month on the site proper
4) good upgradability of the packages if I need more bandwidth
