I am a native Belgian, currently living in Ireland.
As I am planning to build a website aiming for an international audience, but as my prefered domainname is taken already with the .com, .info and .net extentions, I was wondering if .co.uk has any value.
The extention is supposed to be linked with Britain of course, but I notice that it sounds somehow familiar as well for people outside of the UK due to the many famous sites using a .co.uk domain.
So, in case real international extentions such as .com, .net or .org are taken, is .co.uk worth anything on international level ?
a small PS: .be is not very interesting for me since I currently don't live in Belgium anymore, and .ie is also not the best solution I think because the extention sounds unfamiliar outside of Ireland, and if I'd ever move out of Ireland again I'd be in problems keeping the .ie due to the restrictions.
So let's say both .be and .ie are not suitable for this purpose.
