HI,

I want to host about 6 sites for my friends and i need some software that i would be able to use that would tell me how much bandwth, traffic and stuff like that they are using.I was looking around at screen shots of these webhosting companies and they kick asss. I was wondering if you people can suggest some software like that .

I can use linux or windows.

I assume you will be hosting these sites from your own computer at home? If so, I would recommend that you install Webalizer. It's completely free, and even gives you detailed visitor statistics.

The only shortcoming is that it doesn't monitor FTP or POP3 traffic.

You can download it from:

Hope this helps. :)

yes i am using my home computer but i have a server set up that will always be online.

My home internet connction is a cable line and my upload speeds are 40k.

that should be enought right because html files and stff are very small.

what kind of traffic are you expecting. Because if 6 sites start getting a lot of traffic.................

Linux is a far better platform for a hosting server, especially if you plan to have it on 24/7. I'd imagine that the windows o/s would need to be rebooted every day at least! Also, security on linux is better.
