Crooner 02-17-2002, 10:18 AM VenturesOnline.com - the best... BeCoMe1 02-17-2002, 11:16 AM OK you think they have the best dedicated servers but why? Crooner 02-17-2002, 07:20 PM Servers are just machines and you can find good machines at many providers - I wanted something fast (1Gig of Ram and SCSI hard drive) but of course, that could be had at many different providers. The reason Ventures is the best are the people behind the machines. Great folks, excellent communication and great technical support. I want to be around for the long term and so I market my services at a slightly higher price but excellent customer service - I want the same from my service providers and am glad I chose Ventures. Dean Martin NexDog 02-18-2002, 12:18 AM Hi, I'm with Dean, it's all about support. We decided on Rackspace and they aren't cheap but their support is phenomenol. There is always a level 3 tech at the the end of the phone 24/7 and they know absolutely everything. DigitalXWeb 02-18-2002, 01:31 AM I would have to agree with above posts. When determining where to get a dedicated or co-locate a server. Make sure you have the support that is needed. Sure there are tons of companies out there doing the latest and greatest servers with 300 Gigs of Transfer per month for only $99. But normally they lack in Managed Service and support, maybe not all of them but most. Keep in mind that proper support requires personnel which costs money, so even though both of the above mentioned may be a little more expensive, you will get what you pay for!! There are others out there also besides VO or RackSpace you just have to do a search here for them. Another thing to keep in mind is if you are an experienced administrator and are comfortable running and maintaining your own server(s), one of the $99 deals may be your best bet as you may not require the support. michaeln 02-18-2002, 09:29 AM I am with Crooner. VO is great. They have responded to all of my trouble tickets in under an hour and go well out of the way to fix my problem. Michael |
