Try doing a search as many billing systems have already been discussed here previously. :)

Modernbill
ClientExec
WHMAP would do too, most likely

Just to name a few... :P

What's your budget? Believe it or not, that can have an impact on what you're willing to buy. ClientExec is cheaper than Lpanel or WHMAP but has fewer feature.

Whoiscart is apparently a steal for what you get - but my personal opinion is that it's just not polished enough.

all i want to do is auto bill customers without me having to do it... I would like to enter data and have the billing system send customers an email reminding them to pay when due. If I have a customer whom has paid 6 months advance .....not bill them untill 5 or 7 days prior to the date due....and keep records of course

Most of billing software mentioned above has the basic features you are asking for.

To make the decision to use which one, you need to look at other aspects such as types of control panel you will be using now and in future, payment gateways support, domain registrars support, ease of configuration and managment etc etc....u get the idea. :)

I would like to know which one has the best reoccuring billing management, any suggestions?

(I own whois.cart() now but, due to rare technical issues, the install is not functioning properly, and I do not want to have to switch to Silverstar edition)

What kind of problems are you having with whoiscart? The install itself is only about 5 mins at best.

Has a lot of nice features, and now I have it pretty much working it's pretty good. Though the documentation is somewhat lacking.

onpoint, based on your description, ClientExec will not do what you need... it doesn't keep accounting, doesn't allow clients to "randomly" pre-pay amounts and then keep track of what they have on account.

Modernbill will do all this, though. It's really flexible, I think it'd work great for you. :)

Silverstar looks promising and provided the skills that their authors are demonstrating integrating diverse payment gateways and domain registrars in whoiscart, it will certainly be a great product.

However until they release it, we are only talking about vaporware ....

In the meantime I am a user (not too satisfied) of DRams+
however I can say that it is finally a billing software that I could really use and take advantage of.

Why I am not fully satisfied, because their templates are not too well done and because their the admin interface needs to be more professionaly treated/debugged.

I've used a variety in my ISP history. I remember Optigold ISP being pretty decent, though expensive.. I just did a search and there are quite a few discussions about billing systems..

Good luck!

csrs: My very belated reply is that I had a "rare system probelm"... The install works fine but the reoccuring billing system was not functioning properly. After a ticket to them, I was told to wait for an update that they were going to make for the few of "us" that were experiencing the problem. About two weeks ago I contracted a seprate independent php system designer to have a new system custom built for me, and just my luck immediately after that they released an update which fixed the problem that the few of us were having.

So, my overall view of whois.cart is this:
The people behind it are great, the service is great (i give them MUCH credit for fixing a problem for only a few people, since it must have involved much work)., and most of all the price is great. Unfortunantly, I do agree that it isn't very well polished. I would reccommend this to any host who is looking for a quick fix to a billing situation.
Silverstar will be absolutely great, but they have made it for PHP5, which will be great in the long run..., but seeing as how many hosts including myself do not trust php5 yet, it may take a while for everyone to appreciate it.

Hi I decided to post here rather than create a new thread.
I think billing software is what I want (not sure).
Basically I'm looking for the best software that works with the major hosting control panels such as WHM/cpanel.
I have a dedicated server with WHM, I need software that will allow customers to sign up, process their credit card using a major merchant gateway. Upon success, connect to WHM and setup the account with the selected package, send the confirmation emails and automate billing. I think you get the idea. I'm looking for the best software for this purpose, money is no object. I just want something that works extremely well and covers all the bases from a company with good support.
I would like feedback from those who have had the opportunity to use a variety of software. While there are lots of good posts on the forums, much of it are comments from people who have tried one product they are happy with it. I have a good budget for this, so I’m looking for the best, not just best value.

Any input would be appreciated

ModernBill is probably the best, but it is clunky (in other words, it has a ton of features but makes the setup/use terrible).

CE has much less features, no true-automated billing (you need to click on the button to generate them daily, monthly, etc.) but has an awesome user interface, good integrated kb and for the features it does have, it is well written.

I have decided to stick with CE. Don't know about the others as I have only demo'ed them (and that was a long time ago).

Modernbill is fantastic.
You can install it a few minutes, though getting it setup exactly the way you want will take a lot longer, however if your billing system is not right you won't last long, so you might as well get it right
