Just heard the FL Supreme Court ruled in favor of Gore. Looks like it's going to the US Supreme Court.

I know very little about the American elections, although it is on our main news every day, so we can't miss it. I hope Al Gore wins, I thought this before the ballot since he "seems" more honest than Bush, Bush looks like someone who's had an easy life and probably walked all over people to get where he is. After the ballot, I definitely favoured Al Gore, I can't believe Bush is going to these extremely measures to stop votes from being counted, lets be fair. An election should be 100% democratic, clearly in this case it was not, the argument aren't based on nothing, and hence everything should be done to ensure the final result is 100% democratic whether this means a complete re-vote, counting all votes... whatever...

Interesting, Sky News interviewed someone (I believe it was a political analysist) who made a very interesting prediction. He said that Bush would be made president on the 20th January 2001, after which the votes which were not counted would be available for examination under the freedom of information act, he predicts that it will take a day or two before people find one that Al Gore should of been president, which won't go down well with the people.

Thank you for the input on not knowing alot about AMERICAN Election. FIRST OF ALL: We are a REPUBLIC Country, most say it switches with the presidents. "...And To The Republic For Which It Stands...".

Gore has stated: wants to ban all hand guns, end gun shows, add more welfare programs. Bush stated: Enforce gun laws on the books( we have 20,000 already, we need better enforcement)

Then Bush against killing innocent babies, except in certain cases. Gore being for choice.

I feel Bush is a better person for the job, Gore looks like the biggest Wh#re.
He's related to Clinton also by Presidency.

oh dear... let's not start this again...

i believe that the usa is a democratic republic (what? both? yep... not mutually exclusive things eh...) but what does it matter? like someone else pointed out, it's all just a name anyways... :)

i prefer bush to win solely because i don't want to listen to al gore speak for the next four years... talk about boring!

And Bush is exciting?

TheComputerGuy,

I agree with you on the issue that killing innocent babies is not right. I am a Catholic, and I fully am against abortions.

But, in the same sense, think of all of the people Bush has executed in Texas. Think of all of those who were innocent. And really, what IS Bush going to do to stop abortions? He can't do anything about it ...

Vincent:

It is not what he can do about it, rather who he can nominate to the Supreme Court. If enough justices that support pro life are in, then a challenge to Roe v. Wade is going to happen.

well now, bush isn't one bit close to exciting, but he does fluctuate his voice, which i find easier to listen to...

I think it's still up in the air. Aferall, the repub's are having difficulties now with what they did to the absentee ballots, I dont know exactly what they did, but some friends tell me that they only altered the zipcode so that the ballots would get to the right place, and others tell me that they altered something once it got to the right place. If the courts decide to dump those ballots (if they have been tampered with in *any* way) then it looks like it could swing towards gore, but if those ballots remain, then it looks like we'll get squeaky in for president. (sorry to me bush's voice is like a squeaky dog toy - But then again those things just rattle on my nerves).

So, the battle goes on, we'll eventually have a president and stop being the laughing stock of the world. I have read so many puns poked at america since this thing has started on totally irelevant newsgroups, it's funny but disturbing at the same time.

No Offense: But the amount of jokes and the types of jokes are likened to what *everyone* has said about the Poles. I guess it does hurt to be on the other side.

Take care,
Bbox

ALthough I do have my favorite, it is pretty obvious that the vote was more or less, split right down the middle. I'd say a heads/tails coin toss is on order and I'll go with the winner either way. Maybe in the true spirit of America, a pie eating or frog jumpin' contest? Something the whole country can get into. Maybe a mud-bog racing challenge? I'm (yet again) home sick and really have nothing better to do than come up with these things.

In Outer Moldavia, we settle political questions like this by combat amongst our highly trained sword-fighting goats.

Perhaps we would be willing to lend two of them to the US.

The US must provide the swords, however...

With both candidates constantly sticking their feet in their mouths as is, we felt it unwise to provide them with anything sharp and pointy.

Until further notice I am here by appointing myself as the Supreme Ruler of the United States. See it`s that easy, no messy votes to deal with!

I guess somebody had to do it.

After all, bereft over their not having one, Idi Amin appointed himself King of Scotland...

May you rule as wisely and well -- or at least as interestingly.

My first act as Supreme Ruler will be nightly nation wide broadcasted **** fights, free cigarettes and shots of Jim Beam for all. All hail the Supreme Ruler.

Free smokes and booze! Whooo-hooo!

Hey, I got an idea! Why don't they just recount the Florida votes again? Yeah, I know they've done it 7 or 8 times already, but maybe if they do it just *one* more time, Gore will win? If not just keep recounting until he does. Seems fair.

After this recount, I demand a total re-vote!

Its not fair, that been their plan since the begininng. Remeber that interview with some former democrat advisor after election day? He said they'd keep pushing for recount after recount until Gore wins, and thats exactly whats happening. First Bushs' lead was at 1500, then 900, then 500, now 150. next time Gore wins and its all over.

Now there's a platform!

If either one of these clowns had run with something like that, this whole matter of recounts would never have arisen.
