Well a lot of them are third party processors listed above because you have to use their electronic payment gateway.

And if you are in the United States, I usually use the LinkPoint gateway and then I like Verisign. It depends on where you are located and exactly what you are looking for.

With just the electronic payment gateway, you cannot accept credit cards, you still need a Merchant Account provider (MAP)

Both Linkpoint and Verisign offer crappy support from what we have experienced and what others that I know of have told me. Why do you recommend them?

I use them both, never had any issues with either one. That is why I recommend them. It is just like any company - the more clients you get, it is going to increase that you will hear about how they offer poor support.

Look at Paypal - when it first came out - people that it was better than sliced bread. Now, you have people who say they provide poor support. Usually people just say it when they cannot get what they want or do not understand something

I think we should choose the most popular companies from the above list as it's just impossible to discuss all of them :)
What about the next ones:
2checkout;
authorize.net;
egold;
ikobo;
moneybookers;
paypal;
verisign;
woldpay.

You forgot a quite popular one, stormpay.

I myself use paypal, with little to no problems.

I will be glad to hear about your experience with 2co. It has a good coverage but on the other hand I read a lot of horror stories about this company.

Something else to consider with any gateway is not just the price but also the specifics on what services are provided and which options cost extra.

From an integration standpoint, this can be very important. For instance - on the recurring billing side - postback on recurrings is a feature supported by only a few but it can be a very useful one.

Yes, I agree – stormpay is also rather popular.

And I also think that "something else to consider with any gateway is not just the price but also the specifics on what services are provided".
But on the other hand take a look at worldpay – they have many customers however if you’re new in the online business you’re not always rich enough to use this company.

So to my mind we should consider all the companies generally speaking and look for the one that suits our personal needs the best. As it's just impossible to find something perfect, they all have pros and cons.
